  2. I was in Asda with the missus and put a box of Stella in the trolley. “What do you think you are doing”? Asks the missus. I reply “its on offer £10 for 24 cans” “put them back we can’t afford it“ she said. A few aisles on she picks up a £20 jar of face cream and put it in the trolley. “What you doing”? I said. “it makes my face look beautiful” she replied. So I said, “so does 24 cans of Stella and its half the fucking price”.

  4. An Aussie and a Maori walk into a bakery. The Aussie steals three pastries and slips them into his pocket. He turns to the Maori and says "pretty slick aye bro, the owner didn't even see me". Unimpressed the Maori replies "typical dishonest Aussie, bro I’m gonna show you the honest way and still get the same result". The Maori calls out to the owner of the shop and says "bro I want to show you a magic trick" intrigued the owner obliges. The Maori asked him for a pastry and he eats it. He asks for another and eats that to. And the another which he eats also. By now the owner says "c'mon mate where's the magic trick?" The Maori points to the Aussie & replies “now check his pockets".

  5. Decades ago there used to be gatherings of a large group of mongers, Meet up at a place near cowboy, usually one with great burgers or a midget at the door run by Santos, Then off to all the bars as a large group, numbers fluctuating depending where someone dropped of or rejoined the mob. And the great joy was a post on Monday or Sunday about the bar crawl. Who got drunk, was the most handsome man, an online debate would follow on line defending oneself from disappearing so soon, and your opinion of that great bar sucks. For those living overseas it was a great way to remember what you might be missing In Oz we'd have our own get together, sitting at a mates place, now passed on, getting Thai food and beer, if lucky even Thai beer, and talking about past bar crawls. Ahhh the mamories!

  10. I had dinner with some people who hail from middle eastern parts yesterday, and they were as shocked as the rest of us are. These folk are such kind people, that they volunteer at the local community centre, to help in any way that they can. The father is taking weekly bible classes, because his intellectual curiosity is piqued and he wants to learn about Christianity so that he understands it better. They describe themselves as modern Muslims, their daughter is a doctor and a friend.

  11. Coss Seems to slight confusion on how we both define "Social Welfare" but I will give you my definition based on the UK model which I happen to be au fait with. Whilst Health, Education, Pensions and Defense etc come from UK Central Government Expenditure they are not what are defined as "Social Welfare" or "Benefits. These include, but are not limited to, Tax Credit, Housing Benefit, Child Benefit, Disability Living Allowance, Income Support, Incapacity Benefit, Job Seekers Allowance, Council Tax Benefit, Unemployment Benefit and so on, there are approximately over 60 different benefits which can be claimed, and the benefits scroungers know them the best. There are people in the UK who have never done a days work in their life, never paid into the system yet are taking from it. Millions of Immigrants flocking to the UK being given Social Housing and many of the 60 odd benefits I have mentioned, Like WTF is all that about, and you wonder why I got pissed with my, the Tax Payers. money being squandered by successive governments , hence the reason why I packed my bags and fucked off.

  12. "is there will always be people who take the piss out of the system" Yes and sometimes the cost of those people is worth bearing, for the good of the whole. A year and some months ago, I had a stroke. Because we have an efficient Ambulance system, I got not one, but two rides to two different hospitals in very quick time, straight into the operating room and they pulled the clot. Kept me in over night, I reckon I'm 98~99% back to normal. Slightly better than normal as I've taken up Kayak fishing as a health kick and I eat a lot of primo fish and I am fitter as a result. All of this without regard to my financial circumstances or whether or not I am taking the piss... I am alive and grateful. Looking after yer peasants is not always a bad thing, indeed if you don't look after yer peasants, you'll be lynched eventually.

  13. Michael O’Leary, Chief Executive of Ryanair after arriving in a hotel in Manchester went to the bar and asked for a pint of Guinness. The barman said, "That will be £1 please, Mr. O’Leary." Taken aback, O'Leary replied, "That's very cheap," and handed over his money. "We do try to stay ahead of the competition", said the barman. "We have the cheapest beer in England". "That is remarkable value", Michael comments. "I see you don't have a glass, you'll need one of ours. That will be £3 please." O'Leary scowled, but paid up. He took his drink and walked towards a seat. "Ah, you want to sit down?" said the barman. "That'll be an extra £2. If you'd pre-booked it would have cost £1." O'Leary swore to himself, but paid up. "I see you've brought your laptop" added the barman. "That wasn't pre-booked either, that's another £3." O'Leary was so incensed and his face was red with rage. "I've had enough! I insist on speaking to a manager!" "Here is his e-mail address, or if you wish, you can contact him between 9.00 am and 9.01am every morning, Monday to Tuesday. Calls are free, unless answered, then there is a charge of only £1 per second". "I will never use this bar again". "OK but do remember, we are the only hotel in England selling pints for £1."

  15. Agree 100% I have 2 sons who I guarantee have relied on the internet for all their knowledge/information from the time they left school. The most dangerous types on the net IMO are the "Influences" whatever that is. And most of them are probably narcissists. I recently asked the younger one his thoughts on Andrew Tate. To my surprise he thought he was a great guy. I explained to him the guy was a misogynistic pig to which he expressed his disagreement. Moment of concern for me as a parent considering the way we brought him up. Zuckerberg is a despicable human being.

  16. I don’t think he would be that stupid. As I said previously he was the stooge / fall guy. Any drugs dealing hand will sacrifice the lower players in order to remain at liberty and continue in business. The heat was on, Police knew what was happening and wanted a name so they gave him the farang with enough drugs on him to make it look like a major bust for the police but not make a dent in the cartels business. Many international Smugglers are grassed up by the people they are carrying for. Load a fall guy up with say 1kg of Coke inform the airport they have a bust, meanwhile whilst customs are happy the real mule is strolling right through with 10kg of Coke

  20. I have no property in Thailand now. I was last there for a month in August 2022. I loved the warmth and the food of course but I quickly lost interest in the people or what they were doing and rather counted the dates until my return flight. I was intending to look at a new place, a couple of places actually. There is a very beautiful house and land outside Hua Hin which reminds me of Spain with the view of the mountains and memories of a happier life. In a relative sense the house is not hugely expensive and is certainly more than I would ever require but I feel it would be a prison of sorts and I would either have to fill it with a partner I don't have or suffer the isolation alone. Or at least until Somchai decided he'd rather have what I have. Built it and they will come or so the saying goes but in Thailand, setting up a life for a family without first having that family can mean poor decisions swiftly follow. I know I could get lucky and find someone who swapped their time and affection for security and so forth and I am not delusional to think that is not the same the world over but it isn't enough to put me into house ownership once again. So I read this latest saga about being able to buy land if you do this or do that or qualify this way or that and I turn the page because I have heard it all before. Same same but different the locals say, or at least they used to.

  26. Sean Connery was interviewed by Michael Parkinson, and bragged that despite his 72 years of age, he could still have sex three times a night. Kylie Minogue, who was also a guest, looked intrigued. After the show, Kyle said, “Sean, if I am not being too forward, I’d love to have sex with an older man. Let’s go back to my place.” So they go back to her place and have great sex. Afterwards, Sean says, “If you think that was good, let me sleep for half an hour, and we can have even better sex. But while I’m sleeping, hold my balls in your left hand and my dick in your right hand.” Kylie looks a bit perplexed, but says, “Okay”. He sleeps for half an hour, awakens, and they have even better sex. Then Sean says, “Kylie, that was wonderful. But if you let me sleep for an hour, we can have the best sex yet. But again, hold my balls in your left hand, and my Dick in your right hand.” Kylie is now used to the routine and complies. The results are mind blowing. Once it’s all over, and the cigarettes are lit, Kylie asks “Sean, tell me, does my holding your balls in my left hand and your dick in my right stimulate you while you’re sleeping?” Sean replies, “No, but the last time I slept with a slut from Melbourne, she stole my wallet.”

  30. Hello die hards still on this board. My daughter (16) Thai mother, we live in Japan. Her own Fender Jazz Bass. She is educated in music, piano, has it at home. Plays anything by notes. Look at this clip. She is not even nodding to the sound she is producing. The bass sound was eliminated from the track. She just goes by the notes, the 3 stands in front of her. Luk Kreung. A beauty when the mask is removed. Let alone karate black belt and 120 meals she can cook. And a champion in maths and science at her international school. (I am a local hire, nobody sent me to Japan, we pay it all).

  32. I've talked to vets who actually knew McCain, and they didn't share your high opinion of him. One USAF colonel told me that McCain was shot down when he returned to do a victory loop ovr the target he'd just attacked. True or not? How should I know, but the Col was a pilot who flew missions over NVN himself. Trump and McCain never got along. There's a difference between calling one man a loser and saying he called all veterans and war dead losers. There is ample evidence tht he did not. p.s. I voted for McCain.

  33. I used to trap and hunt when I was a younger man. The furs I sold and the carcass from the muskrats and raccoons I gave to some people at times who actually cooked and ate them. I tried it. Not to bad. My hunting was mainly rabbit and squirrel. Yes I cooked and ate them. Tasty when cooked in a cast iron skillet and fried in butter, after rolling the meat in flour.. I didn't ever hunt just to have a trophy mounted on a wall. It was for food and making money from the furs

  34. Here is a scenario, which I think is very, very plausible. A nightmare scenario to most, A 'thank the Gods' moment for our friend Cav probably. The virus will get worse before it gets better. Public gatherings of more than 50 people are now being banned in some places. The economy will get worse into a full blown recession if not depression. Trump's popularity plummets. Trump eventually wants to postpone the election. He cites the virus obviously. Can't have these long lines of people passing the virus to each other. We don't have the infrastructure for any other means of voting. Democrats obviously fight back. But Trump has the Supreme Court who back him. He is a dictator..."legally". Indefinitely. The virus gets worse, not better in all likelihood.

  36. Gentlemen, I just discovered that I deserve the Thai National Watersaver Medal in Gold. According to governmental announcments the Thai people are requested to shorten their water usage by 1 minute/session for example when cleaning teeth or body in general. I may therefore let the Thai people know that I regard myself as the leading watersavingforce as I have traditionally requested the lovely Pam to share the shower whenever possible with myself. Focus on using less resources to preserve the natural wealth of the intra urban klong waters. Just to let you know

Obviously, you might have some concerns as as perhaps it is costing you more money to run it than you want to spend / is causing you grief or worry etc. Unless there are any problems that perhaps we might not be aware of, it would be a shame to see it change and a real shame to see it close down.....perhaps it's nice just knowing that it's still here and if you want to go and say something then you can?

  42. Strange or not in LA they are relatively rich. They look out for each other as well. If they are in HR they will hire each other, promote each other and they have women looking our for them as well. As far as the homeless situation in California, its a nice climate. And even during its better days you had homeless but admittedly nothing close to what we see here. The homeless issue in America took off in the '80s. There was a combination of the closing of state mental hospitals and a large percentage Vietnam vets who were suffering from all manner of psychological and to some extent physical issues. When my oldest brother came off that plane at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, we literally lost track of him for a few years. He was homeless for some of those years. "self medicating" himself to try and forget some things he experienced. The VA wasn't equipped for it. Interesting thing is all the wars had this. I recall reading an article of the terms they used for PTSD for WW1 and WW2 vets. I had an uncle in LA (originally from Tulsa) , who lied his age at 16 and joined the Korean War, (he was born at home like many people so no hospital birth certificate which was common, he had a birth cert printed up) who was seriously fucked up. My aunt said years later he would still wake up screaming. We think he was bipolar before entering the military which made things worse. He had fits of rage as a kid and when you are a black teenager in 1940s Oklahoma with fits of rage, it seemed a good idea to get out. He had guns all over the house in the year I stayed with him when I first went to LA. He hated Asians and Whites virulently. He passed 2 years ago and it was a shock to us in hindsight that he never did a mass shooting. Lifelong Republican by the way..lol. His family were not going to be FDR Democrats. He was homeless for a short time as well as the Korean War when he came to LA. In Philly when I was growing up crack was huge and that contributed heavily to the homeless issue. I had a few friends from HS who were homeless. Mental issues that were undiagnosed or families unable to cope such schizophrenia, alzheimer's and other mental health ailments. What's the solution? Preventative care, okay but what about those out there now? For the vets I think its a national shame the VA is not given the resources to pay for this. Upwards of 1 trillion for defense and we can't do this? We are quick to send people to war. We have had a war/conflict literally every decade since WW2 but have not done anywhere close to enough for those we sent over there. I think the military budget, overall, is too high and the budget for vets way too low. There should not be much of a wait time at the VA hospitals. I really don't give a shit how much it costs truth be said. It's not because of family members that have fought but just friggin' common human decency.

  43. Kofi Annan died today, previous Secretary General of the UN. A most remarkable person within the limited possibilities of his job. When I celebrated my 50th birthday ( not long ago, lots of laughter ) at the Petersberg Hotel above the Rhine valley he came along asking what the party was about. And he was told that the Great Bubi turned 50 and he wished me well. Rest in peace Kofi, I shall always remember you.
