  1. Escape from Venezuela’s Deadliest Prison by Natalie Welsh In 2001 Natalie Welsh took her four-year-old daughter Nikita on the holiday of a lifetime to Venezuela. But Natalie was hiding a terrible secretin a moment of desperation she had agreed to smuggle a suitcase of cocaine for a one-off payment she hoped would change her life. Hopelessly naïve, and struggling with a drug addiction that left her barely capable of reason, Natalie had no idea of the danger she was facing. Caught by the Venezuelan authorities, Natalie was sentenced to ten years in a hellish prison system. In the blink of an eye, she entered a nightmare world, where guards were either too powerless or corrupt to control the escalating violence. This was a world of almost unimaginable horror, where murders, rapes, and even all-out gang warfare were carried out by the armed and powerful inmates. After six terrible years, and against impossible odds, Natalie became the first western woman to escape from a Venezuelan prison, in a death-defying flight through Colombia to freedom. Sentenced to Hell is the incredible story of how one terrible mistake can almost destroy a life, and how Natalie's love for her daughter saved her. Good read! Don't plan on a happy ending...
  2. A guy was on trial for murder and if convicted, would get the electric chair. His brother found out that a redneck was on the jury and figured he would be the one to bribe. He told the redneck that he would be paid $10,000 if he could convince the rest of the jury to reduce the charge to manslaughter. The jury was out an entire week and returned with a verdict of manslaughter. After the trial, the brother went to the redneck's home, told him what a great job he had done and paid him the $10,000. The redneck replied that it wasn't easy to convince the rest of the jury to change the charge to manslaughter. They all wanted to let him go.
  3. THE ART OF THE DEAL BIDEN STYLE Last Tuesday President Biden got off the helicopter in front of the White House carrying a baby piglet under each arm. The squared-away Marine guard snapped to attention and saluted. "Nice Pigs, Sir". The President replied, "These are not Pigs. These are authentic Arkansas Razorback hogs.I got one for Vice-President Kamala Harris and I got one for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi." The squared-away Marine guard again snapped to attention, saluted, and said, "Excellent trade, Sir."
  4. It’s been 412 days since Joe Biden’s Inauguration... Gas prices are at an all-time high, food prices are up 20%, Inflation is at the worst rate since 1982, there’s a ground-war in Europe, 2 million illegal immigrants have crossed into the US, Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons, North Korea is testing missiles... .... At least there are no mean Tweets.

  7. Lost Light (A Harry Bosch Novel, 9) Michael Connelly Fed up with the hypocrisy of the LAPD, Harry Bosch has resigned and is forced to find a new way of life. But the life of a retiree doesn't suit him. He has always devoted himself to justice, and he is still drawn toward protecting —or avenging — those whom the law has failed. Excellent read! *****

  17. Meat Loaf: What exactly is it that the singer would not do for love? It's one of the greatest rock music mysteries of all time. What would Meat Loaf not do for love? The late US singer's Grammy-winning power ballad I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) blustered its way to the top of the charts in 1993. Over 12 minutes of Wagnerian melodramatics, he repeated that guarantee no less that 30 times - but fans have long been confused about what it was he wouldn't do. Go vegan? Bribe a priest? Give a gun to a monkey? The star gave one possible answer during his cameo in Spice World: The Movie. In character as the Spice Girls' driver, the star is asked to clean out the permanently-clogged toilets of their tour bus. "Listen, I love these girls, and I'll do anything for them," he tells their manager. "But I won't do that." https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-60082456
  18. About the song, Hurt. Bob Dylan put it... Trent was born to write the song and Johnny Cash was born to sing it and make it his own.
  19. Bosch TV series. 7 seasons. Based on the books written by Michael Connelly. Just started watching but this is one series I could do marathon style. So far, excellent!
  20. It's called grit. My generation has grit. My father's generation fought in WW2, they certainly displayed plenty of grit. Present generation doesn't have grit, IMO. I will dig out and post a picture of our little gang overflowing with grit!
  21. I had my tribute to Meatloaf last night. What a team they had, Patti Russo adding to the vocals, Jim Steinman writing great songs and Meatloaf himself. So many great artists...can the new generations even grasp a tiny bit of the greatness???
  22. As we used to say...don't let your meat loaf...
  23. Johnny Cash did the best rendition of Hurt. I listened to all of them and in my opinion he was the best.
