Hi guys and gals, Two days ago I bought spontaneously a second ticket to Bangkok. The summer is over, the weather is getting worse and the rain increases. The temperatures drop and it is uncomfortable, wet and cold; the days are becoming shorter and the nights longer and colder. The fall takes the lead. So why should I stay here in ugly, rainy, cold Deutschland? Leave the miserable vale of tears. Go Siam, go Laos, go SEA, go to the sun, the warmth and the sunshine, go for good humor, good mood, go for the girls hahahahahaha 1. The first part of my long-term stay in this season: I'll stay in SEA for two months. I'll arrive on Friday October 2, 2015 and will again leave Siam on 2 December 2015. In December I am at home with my family, friends, acquaintances. Christmas time is for us very important. Good old Charly must be at home surrounded by his family. 2. The second part of my long-term stay in this season: I'll arrvive in Krung Thep on 5. of January 2016. I'll stay in SEA for 3 months. Check Out is on 4 April 2016th. Guys and gals, now back to my topic. We left Eckernfoerde because the holidays of my daughter came to an end. We spent one weekend in Hamburg and then returned back home to Duesseldorf. For more than 14 days we have a heat wave in Germany. The last 3 or 4 days we had 30 to 34 degrees in Duesseldorf. Fantastic! Hot sunshine, sometimes in the evening by a fierce thunderstorm with a lot of rain, but the next day very warm again, dry and sunny. Great! Our old district Oberbilk in Duesseldorf celebrated in the last 4 days “Schuetzenfest und Volksfest†= “shooting match, the annual rifle and folk festivalâ€. My impression, my experiences: * the selection is abominable * QPP is only a shadow of the good old Washington Square. * many other bars are “normal†bars with 3 or 4 girls. Thanks for your nice comments. The weather changed; rainy, cloudy and it became cold; only 16 to 19 degrees now. We went back home to Düsseldorf. The holidays of my daughter are over too and she has to go back to work. Pretendingtobemale, sometimes there is a commercial on German television to be admired; advertise Flenburger Pilsener: It is a wonderful evening. Two guys sit in their beach baskets enjoying the sunset on a snow-white sand beach. Each of the blokes has a bottle of Flenburger Pilsener in his hand. They press with their thumbs on the steel bracket of the bottle cap. The bottles open with a loud PLOPP followed by a liberating and optimistic "aaahhhhh" of the guys in anticipation of their beer enjoyment. In the background there is the Eckernfoerder naval base. When I look at the Eckernfoerder naval base, then I reminisce about my own time as a proud young lieutenant at the German Air Force. This german region is a beautiful, slow moving area. Eckernfoerde and the area around this small town is a quiet place. Here you can spend a relaxing holiday. It is an area for families with children as well as for pensioners. Yesterday Sunday 19. July 2015 there was a grey day with clouds and a lot of rain. So my daughter could not ride the horse and we could not go to the beach. We spent the Sunday reading our books and playing some games. It is very early in the morning here – 6 in the morning. Today is a beautiful sunny day. The sun has risen an hour ago and the weather report predicts up to 22 - 23 degrees. Wonderful! At noon there is an extra beer for me at the beach bar. Some guys – like Pretendingtobemale – spend their holidays on the Yap Islands. When I have payed attention in class in Geography Teaching, the Yap Islands are an archipelago located in the Western Carolines Atoll in the Pacific. They are round about 1300 km from New Guinea and 870 km from Guam. Right? Too far away for me. I am spending right now some holidays with my daughter in the north of Deutschland at the East-Sea, the Baltic-Sea, in wonderful Eckernfoerde. The beach is great, white sand, blue water. Have a look at my pictures. A small selection. Eckernförde has a naval base. Here, parts of the German submarines are stationed. This submarine out in the bay keeps watch. No evil enemies, no Russians, no islamic terrorists, no sharks hahahahaha 5555555555 So the bathers are 100% secure. Here is look at the port. On the left we have the „Ostsee – Info – Center“ - Baltic Sea Info center and museum. We are in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein; the flag is the flag of Schleswig-Holstein. Happy and wonderful days on the beach and in this town with Mediterranean character. Here we are in the inner part of the port. The Siegfried Werft is not a shipyard, a wharf any more. Today it is a hotel. Look at the Eckernförder girls coming in from an excursion with their inflatable dinghy. A catamaran is coming home in his hailing port. What an impressive boat. The spirit of optimism, the optimistic atmosphere and the rosy euphoria of the first 15 years have given way to sobriety and disillusion. In the years 1993-1996 started many discussion boards like this one with lots of energy and optimism. In the last 4 – 5 years or so, a certain “disenchantment of the siam sanuk-scene†has been gaining ground. The good old cheap times are gone forever and with these vanished times a New Sobriety coupled with a cool damp rule now. And all boards are not as agile, as lively as before. What I didn't mention – only headwords: * The negative demographic development in Thailand for about 30 years. Today many girls who are older than 30 years dance and work in the bars. * The bars are now working with another gastronomic concept. In recent years, the great bars in the Plaza had 80 to 100 girls on their pay roll. Today they have 20 to 25 girls. * The rise in land prices in Bangkok; especially at the Sukumvhit. This means exorbitant increase in rents and leases for the bar owners at Nana. * 100 barfines are done by 60 Japanese and 40 Farlangs only. That's what I counted with my Thai friends on one evening in the Bar Lucky Luke. Yes, Nana Plaza is changing, it is dying, which is a slow process protracting over many years. There are the first victims, the first losers of this development. The nightlife spots Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy, Patpong are getting much too expensive for many guys of the western world. Even the freelancer scene as Biergarten Soi 7 or Thermae or along Soi 4 is too expensive for many guys of the western world. Drinks and lady drinks 140 to 170, 180 Baht in the bars of Nana and Cowboy. Short time for 2,000 – 2500 Baht, long time 3000 – 5000 Baht! In the last 2 years I wrote some longer comments and detailed articles about that issue on this board. In the West wages and salaries stagnating since 10-12 years. There is no general rise in prosperity any more. For decades Siam has an economic growth between 6 - 10% anually. Every year this country generates a significant growth in wealth. The price level rose, but wages and salaries of all Thais rose significantly higher than the annual inflation. This positive economic development is reflected in the exchange rates. Before 11 - 12 years - at the beginning of the Euro - there were 50-52 Baht for the Euro. Today 34-37 Baht! Before 11 - 12 years you got 45-48 Baht for the US Dollar. Americans, how much do you get today? 32-34 Baht. Round about. What a crash for the US-Dollar and the Euro! Look at the English Pound! Same same. Today you need 280 – 300 Dollar a day to buy the same as 8 or 10 or 12 years ago, you could have for 100 – 125 Dollar. Alholk, Radioman, yes, guys, Thailand is changing. My short description of the sanuk-scene of lower Sukumvhit; Nana Plaza, Soi 4, Soi Cowboy: The attitude of the girls gets more and more worse. Many of them – thank God, not all – are money oriented, more business woman, commercialized. They act aloof and cool. But thank God: You can find a girl providing the good old girlfriend experience, the take-care-feeling, a lady with a good heart, but they get more and more rarer, less often. Prices exploded, went through the roof; for beer, beverages, barfines, girls. In the last days I read on another board that barfine in all bars of Nana Plaza is 1000 Baht now. Not bad, isn't it? Today Nana Plaza is not a cheap pleasure any more; it changes in a place for “2-weeks-millionairesâ€. The many beer bars in soi 4 are the visual proof of the demise of the Sanuk scene of NEP and Soi Cowboy. Hundreds of farlangs from all over the western world are hanging around together, drinking and chatting the night away. NEP is too expensive for them. Those beer bars are much cheaper. It was amazing: I entered a bar and two minutes later I had a beautiful girl in my arms, dressed in a bikini only, my hands exploring her sexy body, my lips kissing her sweet mouth, enjoying her emotions, her cheerfulness, her smile. The Nana Plaza has been my centre of the universe for many years; for about two decades. At home in Farlang-land I was dreaming of it. It was my paradise, my heaven, it was my wonderful enchanted garden. I remember bars like Sexy Nights, DC-10, Spider’s Web, Hogs Breath, Three Roses, Farlang Connection etc.; they were relatively small, a little bit shabby, but beverages and lady drinks, barfines and the girls were cheap! The atmosphere was great and the girls willing, friendly with smooth and warm-hearted attitude! For round about 4 - 5 – 6 years, NEP has been changing for the worse. Prices exploded, went through the roof; for beer, beverages, barfines, girls. Today Nana Plaza is not a cheap pleasure any more; it changes in a place for “2-weeks-millionairesâ€. The cheap, affordable sanuk is gone, faded away. The times where you could draw on unlimited resources are gone forever. I repeat it: Today you need 280 – 300 Dollar to buy the same as 20 or 15 years ago for about 120 Dollar. Nowadays you must be a “two-weeks-millionaire†with a bulging wallet. I do not want to deepen that. For about 4 – 5 – 6 years we are witnesses of the unstoppable swansong, of the doom, the Armageddon, the Goetterdaemmerung of the P4P scene, the bar and sanuk scene: fewer girls, higher prices, deteriorating attitude of the girls.
