  1. ...and a thought, what then happens to China's economy, and all the cheap consumer goods we're going to have to be weaned off? Get that new TV, you've been eyeing up, soonish. Expensive future, coming.
  2. On another forum I've been in conversation with a guy in Beijing China below is a slightly edited post of his _____ My remarkable weekend Didn't show up much, have been busy with jobs hunting in xxxxx, looking for ways of going back for my fish and deer, and lock down in Beijing China. On the Thanks Giving day, another total lock down imposed in my place (The lockdown here is different than yours) where has over 20,000 residents, and I felt I can`t take it no more and ready to do something against authorities and those CCPs who lock us up without lawful excuses, only because two people test positive for C19. Waked up at 0400 on Saturday, have my coffee and bit of hangover I stared out of the window, I saw movement around Community Office and main gates, couple guys were doing something, later I knew they cut fence and cctv cable. When sun came up, more and more people gathered there... at 0930 I heard people calling that "go to the south entrance" then hundreds followed, and they broke the chain in front of police and two young fellas picked the fight with those so called security guards that we hired, but they actually worked for somebody else. Long story and a long cold day, but finally we won our victory by mid night. I thought I will be alone in this fight, have prepared for the worst outcomes but I was totally wrong. Those young skinny fellas and girls who live and work as livestock, those who can't drop their phones for five minutes, don't drink at party, can't have complete conversation with.... But they were the first wave to each battle, showed no fears. Since they got all the show, then my job is simple... the police. Checking their gears, talk to officers as one man to another, calm police down with reasons. Yeah, I am good sales. Try my way to protect my people and be the first counter measure if there could be arrest attempts from police or I see guns using against my people. But this is not the end of story, since last Friday night the whole country of China did the same, people started to revolt. Significant in my district, all communities fight the same at same day, that`s is about 4 million people. By Sunday, people on the streets in major cities start to call out let Xi, the chairman of CCP step down. People marching to Tian An Men square calling for freedom and rights. I still remember that hot summer day in 4th of Jun 1989, now is prelude. My god, not the god stranded me here maybe for a reason.... things will go mad soon, unarmed against armed police . I know the sound from machine gun from 1989. This may could change the game very much, dramatically save thousands and xxx thousands of life. Yeah save life, not take life. Now, any police offices here, SWAT team, I like to ask few questions about techniques of how to control crowds without firearms. Old Roman fight, I read some. _____ Serious situation, first hand from China

  7. Ahead of England’s World Cup clash with the United States on Friday, world soccer’s governing body FIFA said that Crusader costumes worn by England fans are “offensive.” Some England fans attend sports events dressed as the English patron Saint George, equipped with helmets, crosses and plastic swords. FIFA told CNN: “Crusader costumes in the Arab or Middle East context can be offensive to Muslims. That is why anti-discrimination colleagues asked fans to wear things inside out or change dress.” Christian armies fought Muslims for more than 200 years to get back control of Jerusalem and its surrounding areas that were under Islamic rule... https://edition.cnn.com/2022/11/25/sport/world-cup-crusader-costumes-offensive-intl-scli/index.html
  8. I heard once of an idea, that involved two or more separate laser beams, that were invisible to the viewer, but when they intersected in the air, that point, could produce a spark of light, the functional equivalent of a pixel. Cupla million of these and different colours and a refresh rate and you have virtual screen. Whether to not it could be utilised for more than one person's view, I don't know. Also I don't know if the idea is being followed or developed.
  9. There's a lot in this world, that governments and organisations that are set up by governments, can do, that we will have access to. It's only when whistle blowers out them or when the organisation thinks it's beneficial for the public to know, that we find out. As an example, a country in the Pacific Ocean, has an almost complete news black out, on the private life, of a TV personality, who is (relationship withheld) associated with a Politician. Any B+, A-, celeb, is usually putting out hundreds of stories in Women's magazines and news outlets, on, their new shoes, babies, fave pasta dish, etc. This one, all you see are the TV projects. Nothing else.
  10. Whilst there are issues with it, it's easy to compare it with alcohol and tobacco. Teenagers will go for what they can't have. Many of us have smoked grass when young and it can be argued, that we didn't turn out bad, well not too bad. I can only thank my lucky stars that I never was exposed to Meth or Opioids or synthetic dance chemicals.... There are much worse fates than getting stoned on THC.

I do 50 50. On the one hand, the online gets me cheaper purchase prices, but delivery costs that are pulling the tit. On the other hand, visiting the store which is easy (traffic/cost/temperature in NZ and Oz), I can get exactly what I want and not have to feel cheated, like when the online order turns out to be, not quite what was advertised.

  16. Attack was in a police compound in Narathiwat, a border province witnessing a decades-long uprising. A car bomb exploded in southern Thailand's Narathiwat province on November 4, 2008, wounding 73 people [Surapan Boonthanom/Reuters] Published On 22 Nov 2022 At least one person has been killed and 30 wounded when a car bomb exploded in a police compound in southern Thailand, police said. Tuesday’s blast in Narathiwat province came shortly after a suspect drove a car into the police accommodation and abandoned it, according to Narathiwat Governor Sanan Pongaksorn. Police were checking security camera footage to identify the suspect, the governor added. “We are still clearing the area and the number of injured could increase,” said Lieutenant Colonel Niti Suksan, Narathiwat deputy police commissioner. The fatality was a police officer, while the injured included both civilians and officers, according to Pornprasit Jantra, director of the Narathiwat Rajanagarindra hospital. There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack. Southern Thailand has witnessed a simmering rebellion since 2004, as fighters in the Muslim-majority provinces of Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, and parts of Songkhla, battle for greater autonomy from the state. More than 7,300 people have been killed in the conflict in the provinces along the border with Malaysia, according to the Deep South Watch group, which monitors the violence. In August, explosions and fires ripped through at least 17 locations in southern Thailand, in what appeared to be multiple coordinated attacks that injured seven people. Peace talks that began in 2013 have faced repeated disruptions. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/11/22/one-killed-30-injured-in-southern-thailand-car-bombing

  18. Amsterdam 2022 R 2h 14m In the 1930s, three friends witness a murder, are framed for it, and uncover one of the most outrageous plots in American history. Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Chris Rock, Michael Shannon, Mike Myers, Taylor Swift, Timothy Olyphant, Zoe Saldana, Rami Malek, Robert De Niro, Ed Begley Jr. et al. With such a good cast, it's watch-able for the acting alone. The story is obviously "Hollywood" for the commercial success they are aiming for. It's based on real history. Wanna know more? (not mis-information), have a listen to Rachel Maddow's podcast "Ultra" which details the real Nazi Plot to over throw the USA government, in the '40's. Yes this actually happened. Recommended
  19. For those that are interested, the new Avatar trailer: At my age I see this as more of a kids movie. However as one who is interested in computer/graphics/movie/making/watching, this is fascinating. Amazing how far the tech has come recently. I'm still waiting for someone to offer a convincing 3D solution (not necessarily for this movie) that doesn't depend on hype.
