  1. Thanks for the update. I'd been following the story of Nong Air with some interest. Wonder if she'll actually get any of the money? If the damages are due to come from the defendants, I think they were quite wealthy owning a house and had a business or two etc. At the time I got the feeling they had paid off the police to go into hiding, who had originally arrested them, but then let them go, whereupon they promptly skipped bail. There was a fund set up for donations to Nong Air as well, for which 600,000 Baht had already been collected as of August last year. http://t2.thai360.co...20#entry1401426
  2. Scary. Saw one part where they seemed to be just shooting with a machine gun into passing cars killing the passengers, then in the moments afterwards claiming they somehow knew they were soldiers, even though they were dressed in civilian clothing.
  3. Didn't know he was still alive. He was great in the old Spaghetti Westerns.
  4. Looks like he's out on bail and the system of the elites avoiding jail continues... Thaksin’s aide gets six years in jail The Samut Prakarn provincial court today sentenced Apichat Chansakunporn, alias Sia Pieng, managing director of President Agri Co Ltd, and a close aide to ex- Premier Thaksin Shinawatra, to six years in prison after finding him guilty of embezzlement of 20,000 tons of broken rice, and breaching government rice contract. The court said his company and he himself were found guilty when they failed to ship to Iran 20,000 tons of rice worth 200 million baht they received from the Commerce Ministry for improvement but embezzled them with intent for sale to another country. They were then guilty of breaching rice contract with the government and also of embezzlement. The court then sentenced him to three years in prison for each charge and a fine of 6,000 baht each. In all, the court said the defendant will serve a combined prison terms of six years and a fine of 12,000 baht for the two charges he was found guilty. Sia Pieng later posted bail for temporary release and said he would appeal the sentences. http://englishnews.t...-six-years-jail (24/06/14) Meanwhile, an elderly Thai couple get 15 years for picking mushrooms in a national forest reserve in Kalasin... "...Thai netizens are campaigning to help a husband and wife sentenced to 15 years in prison after going to pick wild mushrooms in a national forest reserve in Kalasin -- a sentence condemned as extremely harsh by Thai internet users...." ctd http://www.bangkokpo...ed-for-15-years (17/12/13)
  5. "...An ultra-royalist Thai in the UK, who calls himself DJ Ken and works for Thai Square Putney Bridge, films himself brandishing a gun outside the London home of Chatwadee Rose Amornpat, and vandalizing her front door by painting the Thai flag on it. It was the second attempt this week to intimidate Rose — a Thai woman called Kae Kanyarat threatened to attack her at her home a few days ago, and like DJ Ken was stupid enough to upload video of her antics to social media. Ken and Kae now both face arrest by the British police, and the international image of the Thai monarchy has been further damaged..." Video:
  6. Naughty Nigel (Born? - Died 2014) From Stickman 22/06/14: "...Starting the news section of the column with the death of a porn star is a first and is perhaps an indicator of just how well-known this farang porn star was in the region. Naughty Nigel, or Notorious Nigel as he preferred to be called, passed away on Monday this past week in Bangkok. Nigel featured in sex clips - not full blown movies - and had unprotected sex with hundreds of girls and many transsexuals too. Needless to say, many rumours circulated about the medical condition Nigel was afflicted with, but it was malignant melanoma, or in layman's terms, skin cancer which gave him a red card. Nigel had sought alternative treatment but it was unsuccessful and he finally checked out this past Monday. The infamous Englishman has been in and out of Bangkok since the '90s and became one of the most recognisable farangs in South-East Asia as the farang porn star who featured in hundreds of clips with working girls from across South-East Asia. There was a time when Nigel was all over the Internet and he was frequently seen around Bangkok's bar areas. He moved around the region, making porn movies in Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia and quite possibly elsewhere. On the forums of the day posters would often comment on the girls he did the dirty with, some getting some warped pleasure from saying that they had shared some of the girls Nigel had bedded. As he became better known, Nigel would find himself unwelcome in many Nana Plaza bars. Managers put the word out to door security to keep him out while mamasans were instructed to tell the girls to steer clear of him. I hadn't spotted him around the traps for several years, but occasionally I would hear reports that he was seen here or there. For some time he was said to live in Soi Sribumphen where he was often seen, a neighbourhood known for cheap accommodation, junkies and street walkers. Nigel lived on the fringes of society, was a drug dealer for a period and at one time was involved in transnational credit card fraud. Several years ago he was stabbed in the slums of Klong Toey, a huge scar later visible on his stomach. He had a business card that simply read: Notorious Nigel, listed his phone number and a last line that read: Fuck Off Man U..." http://www.stickmanb...Bar-Bangkok.htm
  7. Her real name? (not her nickname, เล็à¸).
  8. Interestingly enough, I've had quite a few Thais show surprise when they find out there's a lottery in my country, too. And many other countries, for that matter. They seem to think they invented the lottery and are the only country that has it.
  9. Yes, that's as I understood it. The motivation to depart the shores and seek them elsewhere.
  10. South Pattaya Nightclub Security Guard arrested for assault on Israeli Brothers Posted on June 10, 2014 at 5:13 am Late on Sunday Night a fight broke out at a Nightclub on Walking Street which was shown on Thai National TV News forcing Pattaya Police to take decisive action against the venue and those responsible for the altercation. Two Israeli Brothers, Mr. Eli Aurheem aged 31 and Mr. Dekel Aurheem aged 27 went to Lucifer’s Discotheque on Walking Street but ended up being forcibly removed and were then set-upon by a group of 5-6 Thai Men, who were identified as Security Guards working at the Nightclub. The entire altercation was caught on cameras and the incident was shown on Thai National TV News which placed added pressure on Pattaya Police to take stern action against those responsible. After the initial investigation Mr. Eli Aurheem was fined 500 Baht for fighting and one of the guards, Khun Wittaya aged 25 was arrested and charged with assault. A raid of Lucifer’s Discotheque took place in the early hours of Monday which uncovered irregularities with the Entertainment License. Inside the venue were patrons under the age of 20, some were not carrying their Thai ID Cards, which is also an offense in Thailand and a number of foreign patrons were urine tested and were found to have recently consumed methamphetamine. A report of the raid was sent to the Governor of Chonburi Province who may decide to impose a closure notice on the venue. Khun Wittaya, the Security Guard, claimed he initially approached Mr. Eli as he was seen walking around the venue and had refused to purchase a drink. After a while he was asked to leave and was then pushed by Khun Wittaya who confessed to punching Mr. Eli 2 or 3 times. Mr. Eli’s brother then arrived and the altercation escalated. Tourist Police soon arrived and diffused the situation which was dealt with at Pattaya Police Station. Police Colonel Supatree, the Acting Chief of Pattaya Police, mentioned in a press conference that this event could potentially affect the image of Pattaya and Khun Wittaya’s arrest and Mr. Eli’s 500 Baht fine demonstrated how Pattaya Police investigate such incidents in a fair but firm way. http://www.pattayaon...raeli-brothers/
  11. Saw this on another forum once...British women and cuisine, the driving force behind a great seafaring nation...
  12. 215mg would be about a 1/4 of a teaspoon in volume I reckon, comparing it to flour. Wonder if an error in units has crept in somewhere in the article and it was 215 grams?
  13. Bouncers at Lucifer nightclub attack 2 brothers for buying one drink... When the brothers went to the police to complain and pointed out the attackers, they were attacked again... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n394ZKKnufA Security Guards Assault 2 foreigners in Pattaya A group of 5 cowardly security guards ganged up on 2 brothers who were in Lucifer night club. They attacked them because they only brought 1 drink. PATTAYA – June 8, 2014 [PDN]; at 2.00 a.m., the Pattaya tourist police were notified by Mr. Eli Avrhrm, aged 31, Israeli nationality, with a contused face, that before the incident occurred he and Mr. Dekel Avrhrm, aged 27, the younger brother, went to Lucifer pub in Walking Street south Pattaya, then Mr. Dekel ordered 1 bottle of beer but Mr. Eli didn’t order anything, then a man in black clothes who is a security guard at the pub told Mr. Eli that if he didn’t order a drink he had to go outside because that’s the pub’s policy. Therefore, Mr. Eli walked out of the pub and then went back inside when suddenly there were 4-5 security guards who assaulted him injuring him. Later the police took the Israeli brothers back to the pub to identify the attackers. They then arrested 2 security guards identified as Mr. Boonluea Hoondee, aged 42 and Mr. Wittaya Chairak, aged 25. They also said that there were more than 2 attackers but they might of fled the scene during the commotion. However, the police will rush to follow up and arrest the other security guards and they will be prosecuted further according to the Thai law due to this type of incident is destroying the image of Pattaya. http://www.pattayada...ign-in-pattaya/ http://www.thairath..../content/428101

  17. NCPO to ask foreign govts to extradite lese-majeste offenders BANGKOK, 10 June 2014 (NNT) - The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has requested the British government to extradite a Thai woman facing a lese-majeste charge while looking into a possibility of lifting curfews in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Deputy Army Spokesperson Colonel Winthai Suwaree stated that the Army would take serious action against three Thai nationals who have refused to report to the NCPO. Among those on the NCPO’s want-list are Miss Chatwadee Amornpat, Mr. Chakrapop Penkae, former Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office and Mr. Sunai Julapongsatorn, former Pheu Thai party-list MP. Ms. Chatwadee, aka “Roseâ€, was found guilty of committing lese-majeste and is now hiding in the United Kingdom, Colonel Winthai said, adding that the NCPO has requested the British government to extradite her to Thailand. Colonel Winthai also announced that the Army would consider lifting curfews in certain areas, especially at some spots in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. However, the NCPO would still enforce the curfew nationwide, as war weapons were still detected at various areas. Under the martial law, Col Winthai said soldiers were able to perform their duties more efficiently. Nonetheless, the NCPO believed that everything would return to normal soon but was still unable to provide a definite answer on when it would lift the curfew nationwide. http://thainews.prd....OL5706100010004 (10/06/14)
  18. There was a bit more on the Pantip message board. Post 4 from an 'insider' claims the director had just had an argument with a teacher in the school and drove off in a rage, deliberately crashing into the children. After that he drove off out of the school and tried to escape and was only caught because he crashed into another car outside the school gate. Post 15 also claims he has a history of poor driving with previous crashes involving people and trees. Guess it's too early to know what really happened though. This video was filmed by a bystander. Warning, graphic images. http://youtu.be/eFV4jvL4uIY http://pantip.com/topic/32177654

Don't know if this was posted before: http://youtu.be/HsQSrm4U-hM Police on Sunday (01st June 2014) detained a woman in the Pratunam area after she was seen demonstrating alone at Ratchaprasong intersection where a number of officers had been deployed to handle anti-coup protesters. The lone protester showed up at Ratchaprasong intersection at about 10.40am. She was wearing a mask with the word "people" printed on it. Police tracked her and detained her at the Pratunam intersection. She was taken to Lumpini police station for violating the NCPO's decree on anti-coup protests. The woman, who has not yet been unidentified, said she was an ordinary citizen who had done nothing wrong. A woman was forced into a taxi by suspected plainclothes police officers after she allegedly flashed three-finger signs signalling her opposition to the coup near Asoke BTS station on Sunday, June 1, 2014.
