  1. Not quite smoothly yet though - I saw reports of places being closed down for not having the SHA+ required certification. Also from today's clarification - but Baby Steps! “For those who do not finish their alcoholic drinks after the 9pm deadline, they should take their bottles home or try to drink up or just throw them away. Officials will be sent to make regular inspections.” My suggestion is to pay attention to domestic tourism first, then bring on the internationals - and even then start with people who basically want to come "home" to Thailand (for work / family) before the "normal" tourism is opened.
  2. The PM may have been exposed to the COVID virus directly - which under the present guidelines would mean he needs to self-isolate for 14 days! PM Prayut-self-isolates-after-covid-exposure-at-phuket-reopening
  3. Hey Dean - I would guess that July would be a good date to expect this. The expectation is that the quarantine will be reduced to 7 days for fully vaccinated people as early as April.
  4. Yes, I saw that - but that is just the cost for the piece of paper - not the actual vaccine!
  5. Brings back memories of the 3M (MMM) Hotel!
  6. Sorry - that did not come out correctly - no - I don't own them - but they are available for sale - at least it seems. Didn't Khun Sanuk own the nanaplaza domain in the past? It used to redirect to the forum back in 2004/2005.
  7. Hey Stick - good to see you here again. A few weeks ago you write an article about the old Bangkok based bloggers - that was a time travel piece back in history for me. Time for someone to consolidate a few newer bloggers/vloggers or now Twitter/Tiktok stars - something for Stickboy or someone. I'm surprised I never figured out the connection between Stickman and Stickboy. Still have both http://www.nanaplaza.com and http://soicowboy.com domains for sale!
  8. Larry King died today - just announced on CNN.
  9. But didn't they actually pay THB 2 billion to build the Gold Line - or was that sleight of hand money - give now and get much more later? {Don't know the real story - but read that they paid which I thought was funny..... }
  10. Almost 10 years since the last post - but here is a duplicate from another section I just posted:- Will Tahitian Queen (TQ) rise again? Let's hope so. https://www.gofundme.com/f/save-a-local-business-Thailand https://www.pattayamail.com/featured/tahitian-queen-pattayas-oldest-bar-calls-it-quits-after-42-years-339508#:~:text=By Pattaya Mail, last time after 42 years. TL;DR VersionMy father, Woody, has been living as an expat in Thailand for over 30 years. He spent most of his time helping children in need using the motorcycle-club turned charity drive, the Jesters’ Care 4 Kids. With his good friend Bob, Woody co-owns a well-known rock & roll bar in Pattaya, and that has been their only source of income for the past several decades. The pandemic has worn down tourism and thus businesses across Thailand, and soon the bar will no longer be able to stay afloat. With another lockdown being imminent, I’m hoping to help the bar limp along until businesses can operate as usual again. JANUARY 8, 2021by Chuliporn Underwood, Organizer Hi everyone, Although the bar has been forced closed due to COVID, it is still paying rent. The Pattaya Mail article made it seem like it is closed permanently, but we still have a chance to save it! Thank you so much for donating and sharing this campaign. It means a lot to us. My dad already said he is overwhelmed by your kindness! I asked him if he could share a photo of the bar and he gave me one of him in front of the TQ back when Pattaya beach was still barely developed!

  12. Actually, I was serious. The real story is much different than what is TripAdvisor or the BBC is implying.
  13. Cav - you're always on the FAKE NEWS bandwagon, except when it is actually Fake News!
  14. Mekong - that is typical in the airline industry/hotels, etc... when spelling out names. The US (actually NATO) uses the NATO Phonetic Alphabet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO_phonetic_alphabet
  15. So - how many years to recover from the damage he has done already?
  16. Boris should be getting his hydroxycholorquinine from Trump - see what a story that would be when he recovers due to it!
  17. So - how'd that work out for the US?
  18. I ventured out this afternoon (Saturday) - just walking the streets around Sathorn area / Suan Plu Road (old Immigration office) - and it was business as almost usual. Not a massive amount of people out, but there were plenty. Every food stall was selling food - and a few of the non food shops were selling items out of their doors. Was even able to get a COVID haircut!
  19. I hear Bernie has some upcoming free time. Let's ask him to "volunteer" to be the COVID-19 Czar in the USA (donate his salary to match Trump). Then implement his "COVID-19 Medicare for All" social experiment using the "$1,000 per family payout" being discussed. That should give him about 300 billion dollars to work with - get that to all the government hospitals and government social sectors - money will just re-circulate as much as possible - and the US will have a great opportunity to do something productive. Anyone have Bernie's number?
  20. Well now you have Biden trying to out "Trump" Trump - maybe this is the way to get to his base?
  21. New policy seems to be out today/tonight - I have not seen it translated yet. It was also confirmed that healthy people returning from Covid-19 risk countries will be quarantined at specific and guarded facilities - the countries and facilities still to be announced.
