  2. The Last Executioner [2014] A Thai biopic...recalls Bangkok's Bang Kwang prisons last public rifle executioner before they switched to lethal injections. The brutality of the work whilst juggling that with family life and a love of music gives a satirical feel to an engaging story that is disjointed at times. Hard to find online but recently uploaded in full on YouTube!
  3. Away [2016] Good performances, average albeit engaging story with a criminal theme of two lost souls from different ages who cross paths and bond. Set in the English seaside town of Blackpool, the time leaps keeps viewers on their toes.
  4. The Circle [2017] A social media thriller more suited to TV raises questions but answers none, full of plot holes and feels hollow.
  5. Churchill [2017] A straight to video type movie concerning Churchill’s thoughts in the final moments before D-Day. The lead pulls off a good likeness but the screenplay is too melodramatic and hardly believable.
  6. I Am Not Your Negro [2016] Interesting and very American documentary that punches above its weight with the final thoughts of writer James Baldwin on US racial discrimination during the sixties and the assassination of three of his famous friends.
  7. His girlfriend left because she couldn't handle his OCD... He told her to close the door behind her five times on her way out!
  8. Trash [2014] Entertaining grimy action caper set in the slums of Brazil where big name Hollywood actors take a back seat to the antics of local garbage scavenger kids on the run from crooked police. No T&A in this so may not appeal to all.
  9. Denial [2016] Incredibly flat courtroom drama with the only point of interest being it is about the true story of historian David Irving who was suing a writer for saying he was lying for denying the holocaust ever happened. Watching real YouTube videos about it is more exciting than this.
  10. Son: What's love juice daddy? Dad: It's what 2 people make when they're having exciting sex. Anyway? What are you watching? Son: Wimbledon
  11. Biutiful [2010] Award winning Spanish movie of a man with terminal cancer sorting out his life, family and dealings with the Barcelona crime scene. Well-made but ultimately so depressing that it is more documentary like and hardly entertainment.
  12. Okja [2017]. Superbly original satire on the ugly side of the American corporate meat industry featuring a giant GM super pig called Okja lovingly raised in the fairy tale settings of South Korean mountains.
  13. The Debt [2010] Nazi war criminal vs Mossad intelligence chase over 30 years that can be forgiven it's strange casting choices with an old style entertaining spy story and some good performances.

  15. Timbuktu [2015] A subtle and photogenic award winning French movie set in the deserts of Timbuktu focuses on family life and troubles in a background of oppressive sharia law that is at times engrossing.

  17. He went to the doctors with hearing problems. The doctor asked "Can you describe the symptoms?" "Well" he replied "Homers a fat bloke and Marge has blue hair"
  18. Born To Be Blue [2015] Engaging movie due to the fine lead performances covers the down and out period of jazz trumpeter Chet Baker in the States and his eventual partial recovery up until his final move into Europe.
  19. Man with authority walks into a bar and orders everyone a round!
