  1. Hi, Got mine over the weekend, 5,800 thb About double what I usually pay. Sanuk!
  2. Hi, Riding a bike is certainly more dangerous than driving a car, but I have been in a situation where if I'd been driving a car I would have slammed into the back of the car in front of me. But since I was riding a bike, I was able to quickly swerve around it and thus avoid an accident. Anecdotal of course, but does show that riding a bike is not always more dangerous than driving a car. Had both car and motorbike license when living in Europe (both now long expired), but always MUCH preferred taking my motorbike (Suzuki Intruder 700) instead of Dad's car. Sanuk!
  3. HI, > all the evidence in the case is destroyed. How convenient. I'm sure it is just pure coincidence. Sanuk!
  4. Hi, > Funnily enough, the same thing has happened back in New Zealand I think this is very common. Once the 'honeymoon period' is over and you start looking at a country without the rose colored glasses, you will inevitably find flaws with it. Picking the country with the flaws you can live with most is the thing to do. Marcel
  5. Hi, As usual you go out of your way to put words in people's mouths so you can start an argument it seems. All I said was that I thought 10 years is pretty harsh punishment for the crime (and yes, I do consider this a crime) he committed. Yet, you immediately start going down a rabbit hole to conclude I am okay with men abusing women's rights. Pretty sure nobody else jumped to the same conclusion based on my comment. Sanuk!
  6. Hi, Lots of text, none of which explains why you jumped to the conclusion of "or are you alright with men abusing women’s rights?" Sanuk!
  7. Hi, "or are you alright with men abusing women’s rights?" That's a bit of a jump, no? I commented on the severity of the punishment, I did not condone the crime. I still stand by the comment that I think 10 years is harsh, especially considering the punishment for rape (which I am sure we'll agree is a much more serious crime) is 4-20 years. (https://www.thailandlaw.org/rape-laws-in-thailand.html) Sanuk!
  8. Hi, Sure, this is a shitty (sorry ) thing to do, but 10 years in jail seems a bit harsh. Sanuk!
  9. Hi, And none of this will make a difference as they will not be enforced Sanuk!
  10. Hi, >Or if there is an alternative such as Future Forward Party, the Military and the Royalists make things up to get them disbarred. Exactly. Neither party will really allow anyone else to come into this. I like neither Prayuth or Thaksin, but unfortunately no alternative is available. FFP seemed decent, but of course too big of a threat, so they come up with some trumped up charges to get rid of them. Sanuk!
  11. Hi, Will we never get rid of this fucking guy? Sanuk!
  12. Hi, "The money raised will be used to support visitors involved in accidents and develop tourist destinations" Riiiigggghhtttt ..... Sanuk!
  13. Hi, The guy is getting off on the power and has no intention whatsoever of giving it up it seems. The fact that he is utterly incompetent as well makes this even worse. Sanuk!
  14. Hi, Uh, yeah, I think this is the one that was cancelled again after 3 days. Likely after China complained. Sanuk!
  15. Hi, I wonder if the Chinese gov complained about it. Don't want anything to impede the hordes of Chinese tourists coming in Sanuk!
  16. Hi, Same thing every year, and always with the same result. Do they even do anything special for this 'road safety campaign'? Sanuk!
  17. Hi, How about not admitting Chinese tourists at all until China can get its shit under control? Sanuk!
  18. Hi, > 555 chickens, home, roost, Hardly. This kid will never see a day in jail Sanuk!
  19. Merry Christmas, everyone!
  20. Hi, Fines in Thailand are totally out of proportion with the crimes. The most stupid ones are those like "1,000 Baht fine, 2 years in prison or both". Way past time to review the amounts a bit. And while they are at it, perhaps consider the perp's wealth, as 10K can either be a lot of money or a pittance depending on the person's wealth. Sanuk!
  21. Hi, The sooner this bubble bursts, the better. Sanuk!

    APEC Summit

Hi, Thanks. Makes more sense. BTW, is it just me, or is this gov very heavy-handed when dealing with protestors. Seems like the police have very lose hands. Sanuk!

    APEC Summit

Hi, That does not look like it is anywhere close to the APEC meeting, which is at Queen Sirikit Convention Center. Sanuk!

    APEC Summit

Hi, On Monday there were probably around 100 policemen, nearly half in full riot gear, between Asoke and the start of park. And of course the vast majority were doing nothing. Quite a few very young looking ones as well, which made me wonder if they pulled in students from the police academy. Sanuk!
