  1. My experience was a little better. I got to see what was quite a nice 1 bedroom villa. The 'private pool' was more of an outdoor bath but actually the place looked decent enough. I also got a bit of food and a soft drink (yeuch). I recognised a timeshare con pretty quickly. I went from the pleasant English saleswoman, then the Essex wideboy tried, followed by an aggressive Aussie salesman. The tactics went from fawning all over me to veiled insults. My retort of "I can get a perfectly good hotel room for 750 baht -when I want it and much closer to town" drew derisory comments of living in a dump when I could be in 'the lap of luxury'. They made me wait for my ride back. I believe one can go and rent these places nowadays, when you want, no maintenance fee. As I said, I hope somebody who was persuaded by 'View Talay' several years ago can post how they feel now.
  2. Yeah ....even the prize is a scam. Some voucher for free time at one of their places....but I believe I had to give them some money to get that (administration fee). This is a lousy, expensive and restrictive way to own property, all of 1/52nd of it! I sometimes go to these things just to take the piss out of these con men (and women). Remember they sell you 1 week share of an apartment. I always get a laugh out of multiplying all the charges by 52. So if they say the timeshare is $5000, I say WOW, you are selling them for $260,000. The 'maintenance' charge is $200/ year, wow....$10,000 / year on maintenance. One of the first questions I was asked was whether I had a credit card, I was instantly on the defensive. I hope somebody who has purchased on of these 'timeshares' can post and educate us.
