Fuck you, NotTheNation.
the article hit the nail on the head! excellent!
just one sentence is wrong: "have never eaten or drank outside Washington Square or the Emporium since, well, last century": it is not since last century but since the vietnam war ended...and those guys usually do not go to Emporium! 7-11 and Ya Dong seller 2 blocks further down the Soi are enough for them to survive!

Given what you have to negotiate these days on the lower part of Sukhumvit I think 22 is relatively pleasant. In so far as any inner city red light slum tourist attraction ever could be. I will be strolling that very soi this coming Friday, er tomorrow.
give my best regards to Khun Mallee in the new Happy Pub; she was already sleeping when I dropped by recently.
tell her it is from Somchai...she will then know who I am

did a walk through WS or better what is left of it last night...
only Easy Pub and Square One are still open but both were completely empty, no guests, no girls and then the two open air bars at the entrance from Soi 22
they already demolished the houses from former Silver Dollar to Cat's Meow
Happy Pub reopened at Soi 22 close to the entrance to WS beside Denny's corner and a massage shop; it is now even smaller and has a handfull of new girls but not to the better; there seem to be more and more bars along Soi 22
also noticed a lot of Indians in Soi 22

Now if I was to find myself in such a predicament I would want to end it, I am all for euthanasia but I would not jump from a bridge.
I would not! I would go through it! I think it is very selfish and irresponsible towards and horrible for relatives and friends!

a US comedian...probably unknown in Germany!
now which German comedian is well known in US...except Angela Merkel of course?

flying into Thailand 2-3 times per month spoils the counting!

all inclusive means what? including maintenance, unlimited mileage? and for which model?

I recently went for a small SUV after driving standard cars for years because I needed the extra ground clearance and part-time 4WD.
Look for a diesel if possible as it is heavily subsidised so will keep your running costs down.
so what brand of a "small SUV" did you buy? experience?
diesel subsidized: you mean tax or fuel or what is subsidized?

nostalgic thoughts of a Vietnam Veteran!

SUV seem to be very popular in Thailand.
I consider myself to buy one. Here is a list of what is available at what price in Thailand: http://www.thaicar.com/demo/new_car/detail_all.php?type=4
From the most popular Toyota Fortuner and Isuzu MU-7 until the high end (and expensive) Land Rover and German BMW x-Series and Porsche Cayenne
are you driving a SUV? what brand and why? experiences?
or you stick to the
- "normal" cars http://www.thaicar.com/demo/new_car/detail_all.php?type=1
- pick ups
- tuck tuck
- motorcycle

yes indeed, we did!

i don't see the problem in question?.
can you not walk across the road without the use of overpasses/underpasses?.
of course you can walk across the road without the use of overpasses/underpasses, but that would be considered unsafe, even you have a green light!
-
Why did the sex tourist cross the road?
he did not cross yet! he just asked for advise how to cross safely, either overpass or underground...
someone should propose to the city planer to build a new washington square underground of Suk/Asoke intersection with entrances from all 4 corners...
(then we could also get back to the original topic of the thread!)
-
There is an overpass that will get you from on side of Suk to the other. Bit of a hike up the stairs and all, but possible.
It is near the corner of Asoke and Suk.
that's not what he asked for! He wanted to get from the even side of Suk across (New) Rachadaphisek to the other even side, or in other words cross Rachadaphisek on the south side of Sukhumvit?
understood?
-
When I am going to Cowboy from 22 I usually cross Suk at the crossing at the end of 22 and then walk down the odd side of Suk. Only takes about 10 minutes.
there is a overpass at Soi 18! more save for you and other pedestrians!
-
I must have missed that when I was in town in April. How do you get to the southeast corner from the northeast (Soi Cowboy) corner?
through the subwaystation, man! you can't miss it!

Do you think the Holiday Inn will be guest-friendly when I touch down in 2014 ?
sure! in this environment certainly!
-
OK, but it IS the Holiday Inn on Suk Soi 22, isnt it ??
I think you both know I have some grasp on what a scale model is. My dick is a 2:1 scale model of Ron Jeremy's, but way more attractive !
yes it is:

and your dick is also not a role model!
-
The image you posted above is not a scale model.
and also not a role model, neither for architecture nor for construction work!

Thanks Munchy. Will be interesting to see whether rents/prices go up in Soi 22 once that garagantuan development is completed. They were still doing the foundations for that monster on the corner when I last saw it - directly across the road from what must surely be Thailand's smallest beer bar. 4 customers and the girls literally have nowhere to sit - not to mention that its in full view of every passing cop in need of tea money.
do you mean corner of Soi 22 and Sukhumvit? That would be the new Holiday Inn. And the small bar across the street is Angel Bar
