  1. A gay 15 y.o. boy is bullied and is beaten up by a kid at school. The bully got a 3 day suspension. The mom wants criminarl assault charges brought up. Look at the video and decide if its typical HS bullying and a 3 day suspension is adequate or is it assault? http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/upshot/video-shows-bully-attacking-15-old-gay-student-184016355.html
  2. Ok, the cashier went too far but if you jump the counter and talk shyt, don't get upset if you get something other than change. The video is about a couple women customers at a McDonald's who were upset the cashier wanted to check to see if their $50 bill was counterfeit. That's standard in many places. They jumped the counter to confront him, see what happens next. http://blogs.villagevoice.com/forkintheroad/2011/10/greenwich_villa_2.php
  3. Today show stages fake child abduction and no one helps..almost, finally after a few hours someone does. I recall in NYC many years ago, could have been the '60s, where a person was stabbed repeatedly or something like that, where the assailants came back and did it again while people just closed their windows. I've tried to help when I see something that is too out there. I've gotten cursed out, threatened but I can't sit by. I recall on skid row I saw a guy beating the crap out of this woman and I drove up and yelled at him and someone said to stay the f*ck out of it. Apparantly she consumed his drugs and was pissed. Another time at a laundromat there was this young girl around 11 or 12 years old wearing clothes that would make a stripper blush. Booty shorts half way up her ass. One of thos tops that is kinda like a bra. I told her in a kind, uncle voice 'No disrspect girl, but there are bad men out there who will try and do bad things if they see you dressed like that. I don't want to see you get hurt.' She cussed me out right there and then in front of everyone 'You ain't my motha f*ckin' daddy. Who tha f*ck are you to tell me what I can wear...blah, blah, blah'. I just smirked and shook my head. Afterwards a couple old latiina women told me I did the right thing. I would have done it again. There are nuts out there. Why make it easier and invite problems? In today's tech world if you can't intervene at least call the cops. I recall once in Pattaya, a friend of mine and I saw a guy and this girl, who had to be about 11 or 12, walking behind him in a way that she was trying not to be associated with him but you could tell they were together. It was a judgment call. We wondered about it and said 'maybe she's a step daughter?' and then we thought, why not walk together? In the end we couldn't chance it and saw what hotel he was at and told someone. The worst thing in the world is to be falsely accused of being a child molester. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. However, it would have been worse had he really been one and if he isn't, its easily proven.
  4. From the 'It should be illegal for these kinda folks to breed' file. http://news.yahoo.com/police-2-nebraska-boys-kept-wire-dog-kennel-212025610.html Four children were removed from what authorities described as a filthy Nebraska trailer home where a 3-year-old boy and his 5-year-old brother were kept in a wire dog kennel, police said Tuesday.

  6. Here's the thing. I love capitalism. I love it that our companies are successful. I love to see an American company in various industries as the biggest in the world. I want them to continue making tons of money. What I don't want is the amount of power they wield in Congress and in the White House. Should they have a say and be listened to? Sure. We should hear what they have to say about how to make American companies more competitive. However, they have too much power. We do the voting but they finance the campaigns. Guess who the poltiicians are going to listen to? It ain't you and me. You are beholden to the person paying the bills. The greedy rat bastards have made themselves the enemy. They know they have a get out jail free card because they own the politicians and the CEOs who run these companies and have f*cked up the economy know there is little chance they will do any jail time because they will be long gone with their multi million dollar stock options.
  7. I think I'm becoming one of the pinko commie reds HH has been shouting about. I can't believe my change. My brother and I have watched the movie Wall Street so many times a conservative figure may be 300 times. It was our bonding film we would watch and repeat every line before they were spoken. I'm not motivated because I'm in a bad state and looking to blame someone or something. I'm happy. I have a great job. An easy job (by definitition easy jobs are great jobs). I'm not making a mint but I have enough discretionary income to have fun. Life is easy (except for Arsenal playing like crap and I could stand to get laid more), life is good. The best I've had it for some time. So, its not anger about my own personal circumstances. Am I being deluded or have my eyes opened? http://front.moveon.org/this-powerful-clip-is-exactly-why-we-support-occupywallstreet/#.TqcezimJQM0.facebook
  8. Can't see Cain getting the nomination. The Republican king makers are already decided on Romney. He gets the money. Cain as far as I can tell doesn't have loads of money and I don't see the big money leaving Romney or Perry for Cain. As far as I know he doesn't have a big organization as well. Maybe he does but as far as I know its no where as extensive as the main contenders.
  9. People are disgruntled with the entire government. Its not a party thing. This is what Americans think of the Republican led Congress. Maybe its a chicken or the egg thing but a case can be made that Congress is draggin down the President's rating. http://articles.businessinsider.com/2011-08-04/politics/30100840_1_approval-rating-respondents-poll Congress' Approval Rating Just Sank To A Record-Breaking Low Americans' opinion of Congress has sunk to a historic low, according to a new CNN poll. Only 14% of the poll's respondents said they approve of the way Congress is handling its job. It is also only the third time since CNN started the poll in 1974 that Congress' approval rating has sunk below 20%. The other instances were in March 1992, in the midst of the House banking scandal, and in June 1979, the month before President Jimmy Carter delivered his infamous "malaise" address to the American people.
  10. HH!! Good to hear from ya. Obie won kanobi is knocking off those Sith Lords (Bin laden, Qadaffi, etc.) left and right. He's kicking ass and taking names. "Shirley" you approve? lol. Maybe the best Presidential commander in chief since Truman or FDR, huh?
  11. I'm not in the military, never was. So I leave it up to you guys to say whether he was disrespecting the uniform. In any event, that is secondary to his point. Does he have a point about the police? The movement is moving into mainstream America. Its getting sympathy. The Republicans are on record as being oopposed and it could come back to haunt them. If the Dems were smart they'd make them a wing of their party as the Republicans did with the Tea Party. I do agree with Cain on one thing regarding the OWS movement. The real problem is Congress. Wall Street can only do what Congress lets it. I'd also like to see money moved from the huge banks to credit unions and regional, more consumer friendly banks. If the banks were smart they'd do something about their policies before it snowballs and politicians start over regulating them to ride consumer wave. The banks are greedy bastards. No doubt about that. What they have essentially done is ruined any chance of another bailout. If they start to go under any Congressman that recommends them getting money and I'll include the President will suffer politically for it.
  12. Cops are managed very srictly. They get their orders of how to respond from someone. Someone up the chain of command, possibly being ordered by a politician is setting the tone. A bunch of nuns marching against brutality and gang members marching against police brutality against a member are going to get two totally different reception from the police. The OWS folks have emphasized peaceful demonstrations and its no longer young folks but lots of middle america types joining.
  13. "When I gave food to the poor, they called me a saint. When I asked why the poor were hungry, they called me a communist" ~ Dom H. Camara
  14. While I disagree with Obama taking on Health Care as his first project, (jobs should have been first, save Health Care for the 2nd term) and I didn't like him expending so much political capital on something that got watered down anyway, I am surprised at the vitriolic opposition to it. About 2/3 of all personal bankruptcies are as a result of health care costs. I can't be the only one who looks at a company's health plan as much as the salary when choosing a job. The Republican masses have to be just as concerned as I and everyone I know about the state of health care costs and don't know how they will be able to afford a catostrophic health situation god forbid it happens. My guess it was never about health care. It was about losing the election big and having something to hit Obama over the head with. The only thing I've heard Repubicans offer is that Health Savings Plan that frankly won't work, especially in these economic times. People don't have the money to save and second, the amount you save won't pay for much if you have a bad medical condition.
  15. Then to conservaatives he's not fit to be president then..hehehe
  16. Cain is in over his head. Even though he is I'd love for him to win the election. Obama would beat him. Forget what some polls say here and tehre, Obama would win that election. http://news.yahoo.com/cain-stumbling-under-glare-national-spotlight-123918183.html ...After captivating Republicans hungry for an alternative to 2012 GOP presidential front-runner Mitt Romney, Cain has made a series of stumbles that have left some questioning whether he's ready for the White House. His words and actions have drawn more scrutiny since his rise in the polls catapulted him into the top tier of the race for the party's white House nomination. But Cain has sometimes appeared to be in over his head. Consider what's happened over the past week: —He suggested electrifying a fence along the U.S. border with Mexico to kill illegal immigrants trying to enter the United States. Cain later called it a joke and apologized if anyone was offended by the remarks. —He said he would negotiate for the release of U.S. prisoners held by terrorists, then reversed himself and said he had misunderstood the question. —He muddied the water on abortion. He told CNN that while he strongly opposes abortion, "the government shouldn't be trying to tell people everything to do, especially when it comes to social decisions that they need to make." He later issued a statement reiterating his opposition to abortion. —Amid criticism that his 9-9-9 tax overhaul would force the majority of Americans to pay more to the government, he reworked the plan to exclude the poorest people and to allow some deductions. Backers of Cain's original plan had praised its simplicity, and carving out exceptions could erode that support. Through it all, Cain has appeared unflappable. He chalks up the reversals to the breakneck pace of the race. "In a couple of instances ... I misspoke because of the pace of the interview. I don't call it a flip-flop. I'd rather come back and explain to people what I really meant," Cain said Friday after an economic speech in Detroit. "It doesn't send mixed messages. It just shows that I'm willing to correct myself ... if in fact I need to correct myself for clarity. That's what I'm trying to achieve." For those in the GOP still in search of a candidate to back, his rocky rollout on the national stage has reinforced the view that Cain, who's never won an election, isn't ready for the big leagues...
  17. He's been a good commander in chief (although one of brothers who is more conservative than you says 'commander in theif'...haha). Chris Matthews is right. Foreign policy wise he's been good. Way better than his detractors said he'd be. They all said he was too inexperienced. Domestically, he's blamed for compromising too much with Republcans. Some liberals see it as weakness. I see it as trying to work with others who don't want to work with you. Noble but it isn't going to work with Republicans. They only respond to a hammner not a glove.

  19. I read an article recently saying that Cain has no real network or organization in states. Not sure if its true and this may be Democrats being naughty but I've heard it said he's running for President to sell his book and make money hence his lack of organization, etc. In his business life he's been very well organized and prepared. However, his lack of knowledge on certain foreign policy issues as well as other issues suggests to me the possibility he didn't take it seriously. His rise makes it tough on the other candidates. They have to be wary on how they criticize him.
  20. Bias within the black community based on shade of black has been going on for a few hundred years. It started from the slave days when the slave masters emphasized that the closer a slave looked to him the better he or she was. It got into the black psyche. The 'house slaves' were almost always of a very light shade and often times offspring of the slave master or whites. The 'field slaves' were the darkest. The same bias within the black community was placed on the type of hair you had. 'Good hair' was one that was closer to long flowing hair for women or in guys, wavy. There was a strong self hate mentality amongst blacks in the U.S. (as well as in the caribbean and Africa) I'm dark complected and got teased when I was young as well as many others. This all started to change with the black power movement in the '60s and '70s but the bias was still strong. The '90s saw a reversal. Black women started preferring dark complexioned black men and light skinned blacks were out of fashion for the first time. Its stil that way now. The emergence of Michael Jordan, Wesley Snipes, Samuel L Jackson, Denzel Washington and other dark skinned celebs changed it all. However, to a certain extent black guys stiil perfer light skinned women but not nearly as much as in the past. Nowadays black men preference for black women is more about her shape (booty/ass shape haha...) than skin color. Many dark skinned guys in the old days grew up with a complex. Many 'yo mama' jokes started with 'Your mama is so black...'. I still remember a few. I was very fortunae. I had parents that never bought into that and I can vividly remember watching the Ms. Universie contest and my mother and father commenting how beautiful some of the African contesntants were, almost always the very dark ones. I was rare in that I saw them teasing me as being brainwashed from history. I almost got into a fight at lunch one day when the barbs were being traded and one light skinned guy made a comment abuot me being very dark and I responded that his light shade meant some white guy f*cked his mama or grandma and his mom lied to his dad about it. I said 'My dad is black as I am so I know who my daddy is, do you?" It didn't go over well...haha... I doubt he'll get the nomination but if Cain won it and squared off against Obama it would obviously be monumnetal. We'd all have to vote for the 'black guy'...hahaha...Romney being considered is unprecedented. The mess we're in has made people forget the inconsequential things like race, religion and gender (Hillary would have won had she got the nomination, I have no doubt about that). I think the religious bias will go at some point and an athiest can win. I have no doubt a jewish person can win. I can also see a latino as well. Rubio being an obvious example. Cisneros a while back possibly. A gay person will take the longest. He or she would have to 'seem normal' if you know what I mean. The guy can't be too queeny or the woman too dykey.
  21. Jobs has a point about regulations in some industries. There are numerous antiquated rules. Many of them are union backed. The Democrats need to have a heart to heart talk with unions. The UAW has bent over backwards. I'll give them credit. What can give them more jobs is a move away from traditional cars and a move to either hybrid or electric cars. If the alternative car industry saw a future in it they'd be more innovation. I suggest that the government (both federal and state) make a concerted effort to convert all government vehicles to hybrids. That would give domestic car makers a ready market, millions of jobs including the UAW and the environmentalists would love it as well. Demand for oil would drop and in theory the price should follow. As for the schools, the teacher unions are very very powerful. No one wants to be pinned with the 'you don't care about our chidren's education' label if you suggest they need to accept some changes. Merit based is tough. It can not be totally objective. Its a bit unfair to use test scores as a main criteria. Some areas are simply going to have low test scores. If the parents don't make sure a kid does his homework, what can a teacher do? There is also too much bureaucracy. I went to a church with an elementary school principal and she said the amount of paperwork is staggering. You have satisfy the local school board, state and federal government and they all want all kinds of forms signed and documentation for all kinds of inane things. Education should be a local matter. The problem is that the urban areas don't spend money on education and the states are broke. Many state lotteries are supposed to help fund education and the state legislatures steal the money for other things. Going back to making it easier for factories here. One reason China is more competitive (amongst many) is that they have an almost criminal disregard for safety and environmental issues. They are infamous for that. America will NEVER be able to compete with China on factory production. Nor should it try to be the same. We can make it easier to do business within our own borders though. No matter how much you cut regs and such China and other places will be a cheaper alternative. As for meetings with CEOs and such, those are all well and good but lets not be fooled. They are going to suggest things that are advantageous to themselves and not always in the best interest of the average American. Their jobs is to make their companies money. In theory if they make money its better for everyone but theory and fact have a disconnect at times. Any meeting of CEOs should include a voice from a Ralph Nader, consumer advocate type. Some one to call bullshit...bullshit. One last thing I'd suggest we do, which was suggested by one of the founding fathers, was to have a national lottery. It would rake in untold billions. Lotteries only tax the willing. The money can be used to fund any number of things. Social security for example. Or whatever pressing need we deem worthy. It doesn't have to hurt state lotteries. Part of the windfall can go to the state whose resident holds the winning ticket.

  23. I have read several of Sowell's books. 'Ethnic America' is one of my faves. He is right in some sense. Using his criteria 95% of blacks are more 'black' than Obama. However, Obama has been in the trenches so to speak in some of Chicago's worse neighborhoods as an orgaziner and acivist. He has directly tried to help the poor and indigent. How many of these black conservatives can make the same claim? Obama has embraced the collective black community, Cain and others have not. Not saying they have to or should but as a candidate you're a candidate for all Americans. Obama has been in the living rooms of white Iowan farmers as well as spoken to poor blacks. Has Cain? Or Sowell? Or the rest? Frankly, I don't like when blacks do this he or she isn't black enough tihng and I don't like seeing it involved in an election. Are you friggin' American enough is the only thing we should be concerned about. A president is president for ALL the people. Its why I shy away from Dems who preach the rich are inately bad just as much as I don't like the class warfare conservatives do pitting americans against americans.
  24. I certainly won't equate this with the bonds forged between military men because when you face death together, its binds you to the core. However, sports teams have a bond as well and one of the best thing about sports is that a team unites many different people. I recall seeing a pregame show with Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin and Emmit Smith and it was so obvious the amount of love and respect they had for each other. Aikman gave a stern defense of Irvin who had gotten into repeated trouble. He spoke of the 'real Michael Irvin' that the media never saw and how much he never said no and gave his time and money to Aikman's charities, etc. without any fanfare. I also heard that Archie Manning was instrumental in desegregating his neighborhood with his black teammates and I was told by a Tennesee fan that his son Peyton while at the school was very close and comfortable around his black teammates partially due to his dad having the receivers and other players at their home in the off season and the black players were his 'uncles' from since he could remember. Being a Sixers fan, I heard that Dr. J and Bobby Jones were best of friends and they were always roommates. I had similar experiences on sports teams I was on and still very close to teammates of all hues from my HS teams. One of them and I were reminisching this summer in fact.
