  1. Been down there a couple of times this week (last night most recently).  Busy. In fact all of soi 7 was quite active. The sidewalk bars may prove to be a thorn in the side of the legitimate bar owners, we'll have to wait and see.  Public toilets @ 10B per visit.

Will be interesting to see the impact of the closing of Queens Park on the soi 22 bars near Titanium.

  2. I'm confused.  The Thai consulate website has this stipulation for an OA visa...

    1. Bank statement or evidence of adequate finance showing a deposit of the amount equal to and not less
than 800,000 Baht or an income certificate (an original copy) with a monthly income of not less than
65,000 Baht, or a deposit account plus a monthly income totaling not less than 800,000 Baht In the case
of submitting a bank statement, a letter of guarantee from the bank (an original copy) is required

    800k plus 60K/B monthly?

Would a Bangkok Bank account with 800K (for 3 months plus) suffice?

They also say a deposit account plus monthly income of 800K.  Surely that's just an error that didn't translate properly?

    Confusing for me.

I'm still happy with my iPhone 5. It's 5 years old and whole the battery life isn't what it was, it still works perfectly. I'll stick with it for the time being.

Some iphone 5 batteries have been recalled. You may want to look into it.

  4. Been transferring over in Taipei for the last couple of years and I figured maybe I should check it out.

Any tips of what to do, where to stay, getting around, where to drink, etc? Not interested in the p4p scene.

I would only be interested in 2 - 3 nights.

  5. My gf du jour has requested dining steak. I have taken her to farang restaurants in the past and have ended up finishing her plate. I don't want to cheap out but I don't want to spend a fortune on this gamble.

I need recommendations on places to take her that won't break the bank. El Gaucho, Landmark, NY Steakhouse etc. are out of the quetion.

  6. The Thai consulate web page states that one must provide copies of air ticket and bank statements when applying for a tourist visa.

I'm not wild about sharing personal finance info with anyone, let alone dodgy govt. officials. So I'm thinking I should open a savings or checking account with a minimal balance.

Does anyone know the minimum amount one could have in an account that would be acceptable?
