  1. That annoys the shit out of me. I get the fact that most filums require a suspension of disbelief but that's worse than the unlimited ammunition magazines most movie guns seem to possess!
  2. I'm no fan of American tv, generally, might give it a go to see how I find it though after all the noise.Gotta find something to do in this town.
  3. I'm in that shithole right now, well Doha, kind of on the edge but still a shithole..Sill the money is, um, well just lets say it's enough. Walking in the souk last night I saw a shop selling those white masks, nearly bought a few to take home.
  4. Huh! Says who? I got it, didn't even have to read it twice. Confession, I was once married to a soap opera addict. That rather explains the 'once'!
  5. I have a similar problem with one pc having iTunes and 2 devices belonging to 2 different people with 2 completely different seperate sets of contacts, mp3's, apps etc. I'm sure it's workable but it seems less than intuitive to me.
  6. Ha! And there I was thinking you would be trying to emulate this in some dark back soi bar edumactin' a bunch of Bangkok's finest about the 'real art'. Ah well it seems you've settled for the real thing! Trust it was a good one with all the pallaver.
  7. Was it not Burns night just a wee while ago? Thinking there might have been a round of Haggis recipe's or at least places in The Kok to enjoy a suitably poetic harlot, or three.
  8. No fitttings in the bathroom is common too. Usually you are just buying the shell and since everyone has different ideas they leave it up to you to design, and pay for, the kitchen etc. A lot of Thais still don't use a kitchen hardly in any case, only eating out, others only cook outside, a good idea sometimes, think frying fresh chillies in the house!!! A lot of newer places are leaving the floors bare because clients want different materials but again it saves the builders costs whilst the house price stays pretty much the same of course.
  9. Well I never knew Elton John wore nappies. Live and learn, huh!
  10. Might just be me but that sentence does not seem right somehow.
  11. In their bid to keep emulating Singapore, Washington Square will be rebuilt as a 40 story whore house. Bangkok's answer to Orchard towers.
  12. The way I read it, your take on the article is what its all about. Here's the thing, what is 'Not The Nation'? If you can answer 'A (somewhat) humorous poke in the eye with a sharp stick at all and sundry' you get a gold star. Maybe not a good idea to take their reporting in any way seriously.
  13. Given what you have to negotiate these days on the lower part of Sukhumvit I think 22 is relatively pleasant. In so far as any inner city red light slum tourist attraction ever could be. I will be strolling that very soi this coming Friday, er tomorrow.
  14. It's just that they lower the tone of a whorehouse. Should be caged when not in use.
  15. Denny's attracts the airline crowd that I think stay at the Imperial just down the soi. Beware the large female farang FA's that get in their occasionally. The boss lady, Som, also now has the place across the street in the Regency Park??? Place used to be Pickles, now called, er, Som's. Good food and the girls will fetch it for you if you want to dine at Denny's. It might be open air but the atmosphere at Denny's seems more pub than bar, YMMV.
  16. Not a movie as such but a tv series, Spartacus, download series 1 and 2 with your favourite torrent client or newsgroup service. More blood and tits than is good for any series, and that's just one episode! By Jupiters fucking cock the language is fair ripe too. 4 stars
  17. Thanks for the link, interesting little note. Didn't know about the new Chevy and having had a few of those in Thailand would not hesitate to buy another. Think I still prefer the Captiva over this new Trailblazer but that is really in another bracket I think. In my first 10 years here I drove a Jeep Cherokee pretty much exclusively, everywhere from Bangkok side streets to dirt trails up big hills on Samui and Phuket, Drove from Chiang Mai to Singapore over a week once, car never missed a beat in 10 years and that big 6 purred like a cat even if it drank like an alcoholic! Oh well I wasn't paying for the fuel back then. Today my weapons of choice are 3 in number though I will usually choose the SLK just because it can make me smile and is bollockingly good fun.
  18. We need to be careful here lest we start another thread... Why did the sex tourist cross the road?
  19. Food is available on the North and South sides of Suk, also both East and West of the junction, hard to starve As to the ideal place to eat whilst pondering crossing the road, I'm not sure.
  20. Thanks for that mate, a huge character, and yes that SOUND! Definitely time for some tunes.
  21. It seems more probable but what with Emporium barely a spit away and the new whatsit 21 the other side of Asoke the place seems to be OD'ing on shopping holes.
  22. Walked through WS on Friday evening, but for the big sportsbar place, former katoey show place, in the middle it's just a building site now, MM's pictures tell it how it is. Well more a demolition site at the moment as they tear stuff down. Is it slated to be a hotel? Big farking area, The new Holiday Inn on the corner of Soi 22 occupies less than about a quarter of the WS demolition site. How about the rest of the Sukhumvit and Soi 22 properties bordering that lot? Will they stay or go in short order now that the work has started.
  23. I see that the Denny's people have taken over the downstairs of the Regency Park, the other side of where Cheers is. GF knows the lady boss a bit and seems like the outside bar on the corner will be gone in due course. Does not look like the bars are all going though and I would say that though WS itself is really just a memory the whole soi 22 experience seems it will stay the same.
  24. The Washington Post’s Mensa Invitational once again invited readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition. Here are the winners: 1. Cashtration(n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period of time. 2. Ignoranus: A person who’s both stupid and an asshole. 3. Intaxicaton: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with. 4. Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly. 5. Bozone ( n.): The substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright ideas from penetrating. The bozone layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down in the near future. 6. Foreploy: Any misrepresentation about yourself for the purpose of getting laid. 7. Giraffiti: Vandalism spray-painted very, very high 8. Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn’t get it. 9. Inoculatte: To take coffee intravenously when you are running late. 10.Osteopornosis: A degenerate disease. (This one got extra credit.) 11.Karmageddon: It’s like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes and it’s like, a serious bummer. 12. Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you. 13. Glibido: All talk and no action. 14. Dopeler Effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly. 15. Arachnoleptic Fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after you’ve accidentally walked through a spider web. 16. Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito, that gets into your bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out. 17. Caterpallor ( n.): The color you turn after finding half a worm in the fruit you’re eating.
