  1. Who's to say, it's according to texts, stories made up by unknowns, hearsay and conjecture, might be right but then again...
  2. Funny that I had to double take to realise that was a US statement and not a Thai junta statement.
  3. No surprise there I guess. Australia and Canada next no doubt. Beyond the keeping of 400/800k in a local bank for the necessary period, are there any other ways to demonstrate eligibility? Given that governments generally don't have the ability to provide an unquestionable guarantee of proof of income, which I presume is what is being sought what organisation might qualify to do that? Or is it perhaps that the means of establishing income validity need to be re-examined so as to be more appropriate, or not, if you're not interested in who will or who wont meet the requirements.
  4. Ships commanders and captains are managers, pure and simple, they manage a complex machine like you would manage a factory with staff and in addition they manage warfare. A CEO of a company of several hundred or more people going on the factory floor to help fix a problem might not be unheard of but I would say its a pretty rare thing. As for an Admiral at sea, we'd probably have to go back to Nelson for that one.
  5. You'll like season 5 then. They are still marching I think.
  6. No idea then. But I found it pretty consistent doth from my Commercial Bank account and from a direct wire service, UAE Exchange. This was both before and after the embargo started. Get the same sort of delay with money transferred from UK also. IoM is offshore banking and might be different, dunno.
  7. Yes, have seen that, very nice, hoping shes up for more in season 2.
  8. I think it's just a general location thing, not a problem as such they just hold the money for 3 days or therabouts I reckon. When questioned the Thai bank response is that it can be up to 5 working days before it shows on the account but I found 3 is typical. Bank in Qatar when questioned confirm the transfer done immediately and supply telex docs to show it. It could well be dependent on where the money is coming from. If you are doing it inside Asean that could be quicker. It is certainly quick sending it from Singapore.
  9. Like Kong, I feel Thai banking is pretty good, I’ve also banked in the Middle East and generally found that better than uk when it comes to moving money in and out. I could do an online transfer from my Qatar account to anywhere in the world for a million baht equivalent at a time, money would be in Uk account in 24 hours Thai bank in 3 days (my only quibble). All the security with sms, otp’s the works. Sms on every account activity. Global ATM access, really never a worry. My impression is that uk banking is tied in knots over everything from drug money laundering to the funding of terrorism. Last time I wanted to do a wire transfer from my uk account to overseas it had to be in person at the branch, positively medieval. As for keeping money here for extension of stay renewal it really is not difficult. Move it in in good time, three months and one week before renewal. Once done move it straight back out again. Might cost you a few quid but what price peace of mind if that’s your thing. Bypass the crappy uk and keep the money up in Hong Kong where you can do everything online.
  10. It's still reasonable at 3 which has the very delightful Dichen Lachman in a few episodes, super yummy.
  11. I'm up to date with this one. S05E07 to date. The first series, and to an extent the second were very good I thought. Now, by season 5 it has become somewhat more fomulaic and the reality gap is widening, it was already pretty big. The original premise of a virus that wiped out 80% of the population was a good one and gave scope for a good story. That the ships captain, now an admiral, is still out there shooting up bad guys replete with AR15 and flak jacket seems a bit much. Becoming more A team meets McGuyver, on a ship, with each series. I'll persevere for now.
  12. UKiP delivered Brexit, where are they now, political evaporation is real. Brexit was sold on several fronts and yet I'd say the only one that mattered to most was immigration, refugees and open borders. Had the UK vetoed that as it did almost every other dumb idea that came out of Brussels during its time in the EU it might still have been on board. UKip struck a chord but that chord is now lost.
  13. I recall something about that, was at Ramkamhaeng university, the one with no entrance requirements, and he got booted from an exam for apparently cheating as KS said. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/2223690.stm But then cleared a month later http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/2268564.stm Of course I don't know, yet, about Thai universities but in all of my examination experiences, not too many granted, but there have always been clear and unequivocal instructions usually in large letters outside the exam room with any invigilators repeating the same verbally usually many times. Even to the extent of questioning each and every candidate if they have checked to remove any and all forbidden items.
  14. The other week flying from DMG to HKT with my daughter and a couple of her friends as we passed through the domestic terminal I was approached by one of three immigration officials who were at a point where everyone passes. So this one guy stepped forward and in excellent English requested to just check my passport stating quite clearly they were looking for overstay. My extension of stay is stamped June 2019 so no problem and a nice Thai smile and thank you. I have no problem with this, long may it continue.
  15. Hualamphong is a terminus, the train essentially empties there and they have security do a walk through to check for whatever, left luggage, the odd bomb, used condoms, who knows. It is however somewhere stated, I think there were signs and announcements to please wait until this is complete until boarding. Maybe it's become so much common knowledge that they don't announce it anymore. Thais would likely think you were being, impolite, an obnoxious farang, deaf, blind, all of the above. Though of course being Thai I doubt they would mention it.
  16. What he said! 😃 Login in under another name with a vpn if you feel "threatened" 😂
  17. That Jimmy Kimmel thing was funny. Plenty of similar things from Jay Leno et al. What gets me is how can this be? I'm pretty sure they cherry pick the dumbest answers, who knows if they asked 1000 people and got half a dozen fruit loops, they show what makes funny tv but it begs the wider question, how can there be such dumb people, how many more are out there? And in a country that proffers its power to to the rest. Most here would probably think that if Thailand were a world power there would be cause for concern. If the US is now trying to showcase their dumbness as some sort of attribute does not the same hold true for them?
  18. Hysteria (2011) Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Secretary, The Deuce) Very lightweight, supposedly humorous, no tits 😟 Lighthearted treatment of a serious subject. In the late Victorian period female hysteria was a condition essentially attributed to anything and everything. The treatment varied but in time it became recognised that regular genital massage could alleviate much of the condition. An unfortunate impact being that doctors who "specialised" in the technique began to suffer RSSI, perhaps not surprisingly. Until one enterprising chap stumbled upon a means to mechanize the process and so gave birth(sic) to the vibrator. This then is the story of the worlds favourite female toy. Supposedly based on Maines, The Technology of Orgasm, with some web info here: http://www.cabinetmagazine.org/issues/21/maines.php A fascinating topic which unfortunately the film does not do justice to. I'm sure there's a good mini documentary here just waiting to be made.
  19. Oooh, random yutube vid, ambiguous search variables, umm... Just the internet, phew, that's okay then, at least not too many people.

    EPL 2018/19

Not ordered yet. They're quite pricey. Maybe I could get a secondhand one off eBay.

    EPL 2018/19

My soccer connection these days is following my 15 yo son, he plays on the under 18 team already, looks like he has a bit of talent. Down in Phuket this weekend for an inter schools tournament, ostensibly to watch him play and chaperone 17 yo daughter and her 2 friends but will no doubt have some fun too 😁 Who needs EPL with this life 😂
  22. It's called experimenting! I mean experimenting with putting a link in the post to show the video. Not so much the experimentation aspect of a butt plug. Whatever I'll STFU now 😂
  23. Okay so how do I insert a YT video with this new editor? Doesn't look like it's the link button.
