  1. Hello Flash. Yes the Belgian version.....back.
  2. Just read a newspaper article (https://www.bangkokp...reopen#cxrecs_s) and was badly surprised as in August I was planning on using that to go to phayathai station then from there go to On nut station. Guess I will have to use a taxi. Plus reading stuff like this (if true but TIT so I wouldn't be surprised) 'the ARL cannot afford to import spare parts from Germany. ARL repairmen need to dismantle spare parts from the two decommissioned trains to use on the operational seven.' Am I wrong thinking the BTS-MRT and airport link are usually (at rush hour) overloaded (including with tourists such as myself)?
  3. If I may, I thought the Autobahn had a recommended speed limit of 130km/h but on most Autobahns you could go as fast you wish (except locally enforced speed limits like in Köln as I saw in march). but thanks for the information, I now mayI use the excuse my water buffalo is sick to skip project meetings....
  4. Will be spending a few days in Bangkok in August and indeed having the exchange rate around 36-37 Bht for one euro was rather surprising.
  5. Thank you. My life has changed so this is all in the past, though I might be able to spend a few days in Bangkok soon or next year on my way to India.
  6. End of an era maybe? Not been to Thailand for a very long time though.
  7. Damn stupid British, Irish and Welsh -> I am sure this is a Scottish joke
  8. I got the "bring pussy" part but I had no idea what a "posse" was... Good joke anyway
  9. Didn't get it.... until I looked on the web...
  10. "going by the book" (Korean movie) "old boy" (Korean movie) Both really great movies and truely original ways of treating classic themes. ("bank robber" kind and "thriller/revenge" kind) I rate them higher than movies such as "seven"...
  11. Excellent one with the loyal wife
  12. Thanks for this one munchie
  13. Great jokes munchies especially the Aussie+Foster's one. But I must say the one with Saudi Arabia is really great -> I would almost believe Aussies and Kiwis share a great love for each others. (of course they are rugby fans so this is normal) If you don't mind I will adapt it but with Jupiler or Chimay beers
  14. I prefer fotosizer (freeware). Easy to use and good results.
  15. Of course you do not end up dead each time you upset a Thai or there would not be any foreigner left in Thailand. The problem is, if you happen to really upset a Thai who then kills you then you will just be one more article in the newspaper... About "walking on egg shells": If a Thai did something wrong to you then I see no point to submit, just that there are many ways to tell them they cheat you without making them loose face etc.... Now if you upset a Thai this is another story and you should really walk on egg shells......
  16. Munchie: MYOB was not directed at you and I am sorry if my post was unclear This advice was meant for expats in general who care too much about Thai people's business. Sorry again
  17. He has them by the balls???? How could he? The police will certainly not back him up so I dont see what he can do except run for his life and be very discreet for some time. I feel that if he presses anything then he is sure to end up dead somewhere...
  18. Having photos of himself on his website made it easy for the scammers to identify him.... -> fight. Depending if he really pissed them a lot then his body might be found one of these days.... MYOB (mind your own business)
  19. Reading stick's weekly column it seems that clubsiam ran into troubles (scammers identified him). Feel sorry for him but as I warned him, in Thailand mind your own business or another way to put it is: Dont break someone else's bowl of rice....... Would not be suprised if he ends up in a klong. I am still amazed that expats who lived there for any length of time still take such risks. (And yes Thailand is sometimes a lawless country with corruption everywhere etc...Then if u dont want it just pack your things and leave or u may end dead)
  20. Corruption: Buying your IATA licence, here I would have to study 2 more years to get it no matter my university degrees...... The fact that you can open a travel agency without having the IATA licence, just put the sticker and they will register you as having the licence, etc...
  21. This is very simple why I think TAT is corrupt. I went there with 2 potential business partners who were looking to launch a travel agency....... Instead of what I thought it is very easy to launch a travel agency in BKK, you can even get for a small amount your IATA certification. If this is not corruption then I dont know what it is but as I love Thailand I must say that you can find corrupt people in every administration on earth for the right price. (in my own country, Spain, France you can "help your way" through the administration, of course the price for the "employees charity fund" might be a bit higher.)
  22. Scammers exist everywhere I have been. If you fall for a scam then you are almost as guilty as the scammer. (you wont be so stupid next time......or maybe?) Sticking one's farang nose in the little business of Thai people is quite brave, good luck and hope you have not been spotted or did not tell it to other Thai people.....An accident can happen so easily in BKK. I dont see the point about Thai scammers, there are scammers everywhere in Paris, Roma, London and Madrid mistaking me for a Japanese tourists and trying to sell me all kind of (very) expensive "souvenirs" etc...... Before starting to say Thailand is the worst etc... Go clean your own country please. (and yes TAT is full of corrupt people but which administration is not?)
