  1. I absolutely adore Luang Prabang, fantastic place. I also like Vientiane, but haven't been for a while since my Kiwi mate, drinking buddy and tour guide ditched the place for Kiwiland!
  2. There were two bridges built by the POW's, a metal one and a wooden one.
  3. Certainly wearing a scrotum back pack will make one look like a complete dick head!
  4. It's not been a secret for quite a long time now!
  5. Surely a Scotland v NZ final?!
  6. Southpaw (2015) IMDB - "Boxer Billy Hope turns to trainer Tick Willis to help him get his life back on track after losing his wife in a tragic accident and his daughter to child protection services." Good director in Antoine Fuqua, and good cast in Jake Gyllenhaal and Forest Whitaker, and as expected it doesn't disappoint.
  7. I can attest to this (apart from the Gucci thongs).
  8. Kajaki (2014) IMDB - "Kajaki Dam 2006. A company of young British soldiers encounter an unexpected, terrifying enemy. A dried-out river bed, and under every step the possibility of an anti-personnel mine. A mine that could cost you your leg - or your life." This is a superb film but also quite harrowing as the land mines take their toll.
  9. Saying Miller's Crossing is "worth a watch" is itself an understatement!
  10. Entry to Thai zoos is typically B50 (£1) for Thais and B100 (£2) for farang (entry to zoos in the UK typically costs ~B1000 (£20) for everyone). Entry to Petra in Jordan is JD1 (£1) for locals and JD50 (£50) for foreigners!
  11. Can't see fuck all about charging for an extra seat in the link?!
  12. Of course in Scotland we don't just have the chip buttie, we also have the head buttie, locally known as the Glasgae Kiss!
  13. Astrophysicist Simon Rookyard wins porridge-making prize 10 October 2015 An astrophysics postgraduate student has won the 22nd annual World Porridge Making Championship. Simon Rookyard submitted his PhD thesis on pulsars just two weeks ago. Held in Carrbridge in the Cairngorms National Park, the event attracts an international field of competitors. The winner is awarded the Golden Spurtle trophy. Dr Izhar Khan from Aberdeen won the competition last year using a spurtle made by one of his patients.
  14. I would think that any thread that starts with the words, "The staple food of man,...." should be in the Food forum?
