In UK national elections the Scots always return Labour party MPs. Currently the Conservatives have only 1 out of 19 seats. But because the south east of England is more populous the Scots usually end up with a Conservative government. David Cameron with his austerity for the sake of it and unpopular policies like the bedroom tax has alienated the Scots and driven them to seek independence. There is a long history of London based Conservative governments treating the Scots like dirt. Margaret Thatcher introduced the hated poll tax in Scotland a year before the rest of the UK had to suffer it, even though most Scottish seats were Labour at the time.
