    Just had a CD mature at SCB. SCB offered an interest rate, 2.05%, low as TMB is offering 2.75%. Grab the cash and walk over to TMB....Errrrrr, you are American? yes...Sorry, we cannot open an account for you.... What? Here's my work permit, passport, the SCB account book showing I just closed the account.... No, sorry...and he points to the Anti-Money Laundering Poster... It appears that out buddies in the USA have put some pressure on the BOT here not to accept cash from Americans to open accounts...WTF. Some me self hikes back to SCB and I was able to get a 108 day CD at the 2.05%...but only, 106 days... Hmmmm, can't wait to see what bells and whistles go off when I xfer a chunk of $$$ over from the USA...
