[color:"blue"] depends on the length of stay .... hotel bills are probably the highest cost. I found 5s and 20s to be most useful ... changes less than $1 comes in local currencies, in my experience. [/color] Agree, and that fits my definition of small bills. Bring some real bills back for BGs too. They like getting them.
Guest
Several tips. If you have Thai Baht and want to exchange it for US go to the market in PP, rates are OK. The banks will not exchange, but as previously said Thai Baht are accepted in many restuarants and hotels. Most hotels have safe boxes, so store a couple of day's worth of US. Plenty of beggers for those Riel. Also good at corner markets for that bottle of water, beer, snacks, etc. Sometimes I pay my driver in Baht. Paid mamasan in Baht one time. US $ travelers checks are best. Just make a run to the bank every few days.

The better hotels changes them into USD cash too. The fees are almost the same (approx. 1.5% - 3.0%).
