No Frills Airline By Years End ...For Thailand?

Recommended Posts

Thailands first low-cost airline, spearheaded by national carrier Thai Airways may get of the ground toward the end of the year.

The proposed no frills airline similar to Australias Virgin Blue and Malaysias Air Asia will be a joint venture between Thai and yet to be named partners.

The budget airline will fly domestic and reginal routes thai president Kanok Abhiradee said.

Several foreign airlines and tourism related business operators had approached Thai as prospective partners Mr Kanok said without providing details.

He said the airline might serve the Phuket-Langkawi,Malaysia route..in line with government policy to boost traffic between the two resort islands.

Lots of ifs and maybes but if they get off the ground..will they stay ?

Only half of the low cost airlines worldwide are successful,

Thai already charges around the same as the budget carriers in the UK for it's local domestic flights.

I am just wondering how much cheaper they could make things???

Hopefully they will not be sacrificing any safety elements.

Hi,

Safety will be ok im sure.

Re costs...will depend on whom the partners are going to be.

In flight service will be Nil By Mouth for a start.

Have to wait a little longer for the partners to be announced.

Singapore??

BTW..Qantas announced to day it will launch a cheap no frills airline to combat Virgin on its domestic and trunk routes ASAP.

Sorry, but I don't think it's Thailand's first "low cost airline" ...

What about NOK Air and One-To-Go ???

Both low-cost airlines by true definition as far as I was aware.

(And also Air Asia, but not Thai owned of course, despite flying domestically in LOS)
