N.Y. Times article on Brit. tourists

Not saying the behavior is acceptable but the alternative for these countries is no tourism. They'll complain but have no problem taking the money. Its not the French Rivieira. Cheap flights and cheap beer will always bring in that type whether its England, America or wherever.

 

Here in the states I recall in my uni days going on spring break and the cities that advertised on our campus to lure us there complained that all these drunk college kids invaded their bars when we came. Then the cops get a little tough, start making any kinds of arrests, the kids go somewhere else, local businesses are losing money and complaining at the chamber of commerce meetings to the mayor and the cycle starts all over again, they go back to luring us there. I know of a few towns that have had off and on again spring breaks for college kids. Interestingly enough it seems to coincide with economic downturns in the economy.
