BlazingStarz
All police on Soi Cowboy have been removed from duty by Thai politicians. For the last umpteen years Thonglor Police worked the street and solved bar & tourist problems before they got out of hand. This is in part why Soi Cowboy was a safe place to frequent. No more. It seems that in their rush to morality the political crusaders want to stage regular surprise raids on businesses there. They feel that while police are on the street, businesses will be tipped off as to when the raids will occur. The safety of tourists is obviously of lesser importance than enforcing the antiquated morality laws. Catching and closing bars that show a woman's breast is now their primary concern. If this happens, the bar faces a 50,000 Baht fine and a full THREE MONTH closure. This would effectively close most business permanently. That is the politicians' goal. The police are caught in the middle. JW and partners formerly "helped" the police to the tune of 50,000 Baht per month. No more. The same is true for all the bars on Cowboy, varying in amounts of course. Does anyone think the cops will miss this "help"? There is another issue: Licenses. Apparently about half of Soi Cowboy's bars have a proper license. Bars which opened recently, such as Dollshouse, Suzie Wong's and Shark, likely do not have the proper license. So even though they are in the Soi Cowboy entertainment zone, they may be forced to close at midnight after the first week in March. Again, a covert attempt on the part of politicians to rid the Kingdom of gray-area entertainment, the fucking hypocritical cock-suckers... Better get over here & have some fun before there's no more available!!!

Whitney
If 12am closing comes, I think that would be the time when everyone will see if repeat tourists, and family group tourists will decline or not. If the family or tour groups keep coming back, then the closing hours will probably stay.

Whitney
Kind of makes you wonder, there are people who exist in this world who make good money, they do endless studies usually funded by some government department, who produce nothing but paperwork. I think the closing hours are also being considered upon tour groups and family types not minding early closing hours, and to repeat their visits to Thailand, even though its claimed to be done in the name of keeping tighter control of the youth. The end result will be little or no impact on tourist numbers if this holds true maybe, at official levels.

Belem
In Pattaya, Beach Road, I'm sure, will be packed with freelancers after midnight. Like you said, the only way to stop it is to implement a curfew.
