New Zoning/Early Closure Thread

The Bangkok Post reported that, massage parlour tycoon Chuwit is organizing a protest at Royal Plaza with 1000 of his ladies, today. I wish we could do something similar, gather an international contingent of 'punters' with our BF's and join Chuwit and his ladies. This early closing is 'nuts'.

This was also on BBC world TV last night,

but I must say the Nana parking lot zoo was in full force at 2am

wonder what it will be like with a midnight closing.

Also is the chief of police in Nana district for this early closing ?

would seem to give him more problems then less

The 10 PM curfew has already been slammed by the Education Minister, who wants to know why no one even talked to him about matters affecting students. He said it was ridiculous for them to copy word for word a decree issued by a military junta 30 plus years ago.

Most interesting that an allegedly democratic government is so infatuated with the actions of the military dictators of the past ...

i hope my post here is not too political, so if, then please moddies, be free to delete it.

thing with thai rak thai is that it may appear a unified and uniform party with thaksin at the top, but that is not so. there are lots of different fractions, and some of them do hate each other, and compete with each other.

you have the big business families, you got the upcountry godfathers, you got the traditionalist-nationalists, you got the socialist-nationalists, etc.

given that, there is no wonder that certain laws such as this do piss off many people within the party.

thaksin is a master in playing out all the fractions against each other, and always not only coming out on top, but even getting stronger all the time while the different fractions are caught up in that trench warfare.

now, guys, make your own picture on what that means... ;)

FlyW I would think this would be applicable to just about every political party in the world and what the leaders do is basically the same as is being done here. But as outsiders it is easier for us to see it as we are step back. It is more difficult to see in your own country, but it is still there.

i doubt very much that in the west any party has such a wide range of political and economical fractions.

a bit going away from the thread here, but it has certain similarities to the nazi party in the early 30's. they also had a huge range of otherwise very conflicting fractions, many of them just supported the nazi party because they saw it the only party which could bring order into germany, and as the only alternative to the threat of communism.

you got the industrialists, the monarchists, the confused mystic sects, yes even some socialist groups (which were cleaned out after the roehm putsch). very few people actually took hitlers raving antisemitism serious, viewed it only as his plot to move the masses, and after his takeover to be controlled easily (how wrong they were... :( ).

lucky for us here is that thaksin is driven by money and power, using nationalism as a ploy, and not by some very confused super race ideology like hitler, for whom money and power was just a way to make his distorted vision on humanity come true...
