A Newbie In PI Part 3

Some general thoughts first then onto the first night in AC

There definately is a different feel about AC than Manila or Pattaya or BKK. Its something that as yet I cant pin down but I feel more on edge here walking around town than any other place in Thailand. I even felt more at ease in Cambodia. Maybe its the guards with assault rifles or shotguns or just pistols outside every club, shop and hotel, maybe its just the more obvious "poorness" of the country and town. I might have been in a bad area in Manilla ( Ermita )but it is one of the most run down capitals I have seen.

There seem to be a damm sight more older guys than the other places, i dont just mean retired folk, the average age here is probably more 40s than 30s, there are very few young guys ie under 30.

Getting money out of ATMs is a problem, a lot of the machines are mastercard / cirrus and not visa /electron which is a problem for me as my two main cards are on the visa system and they seem to be offline a lot in the evenings and weekends when you do find one. But my Bangkok Bank card does let me take money out, it will be interesting to see what charges I have got though when I go home. Here in AC I have only found 3 ATMs so far which sounds incredibly few.

It turns out my hotel is a quick 15 minutes walk away from all the Fields Avenue action but unlike Thailand, everyone ( including bar owners, expats etc ) gets a trike home and does not walk outside the entertainment area after dark because of the frequent and sometimes violent muggings.

The main point of fun in AC is Fields avenue. Leading off Fields is Real avenue and Santos St. Basically 3 streets with bars, restaurants and gogos.

So, the famous "blow row" or Santos St just had to be visited and sampled. A street tht is dedicated to blowjobs. THe one I chose was called the Flaming Banana a beer was a measly 35P with the short time 500P. The rooms the girls use - like the local thai brothels - are actually the girls bedrooms. It was an aceptable performance but in the end she wouldnt let me come on her face but did let me come on her chest - she had stripped for the performance. There were only 5 girls in the bar with a range of ages up from 18? up to 40s

What did make it unforgettable was that she washed my dick with rubbing alcohol to clean it before going down. It was a mild tingling feeling which was kind of interesting. THe trouble was afterwards as i lay on the bed she washed me again and put too much on. this had the effect of the liquid running under my balls to my anus and the feeling was definately beyond pleasurable for a few minutes until it evaporated.

These are basic places - imagine a small one storey shop house, no music, ac or anything like that.

After that I think I went to Dirty Duck, The Jungle, DMZ, Blue Nile, Welcome Inn, Amore and about 5 others. I told you I was wasted! There were only a few girls that to me looked 8+ the rest were just old, plain, fat or otherwise unappealing. Unfortunately they have all sort of merged into one blur so I cant give any more details. One strange thing is that some gogo bars have pool tables in them so some punters are more interested in playing than, umm, playing ;)

2nd night in ac

last night i met up with a couple of papasans who were out on a piss up night so again I ended up trashed but they gave me more inside info.

The girls all wear local authority issued id badges which supposedly assures everyone they are over 18. But..... there are many scams to get round it including 1 girl they told me about who is 14 but has an id. the mother went to the town hall and applied for a late application birth certificate, gave an older date of birth and suddenly the daughter has proof she is 18. I havent heard anything about the underage scams but it would not suprise me - its a big reason why i wouldnt want to take anyone back young.

The cherry girl situation is a bit more complicated it varies from club to club to girl to girl. Some cherries

dont go with customers at all

go with cutomers for company only and dont go back to the hotel

go with customers but only sleep with them and nothing else

do oral but no sex

do anal but no sex

can be bought guaranteeing sex but this apparently can cost $200+

will give it up if they like you for nothing

I have seen the lamest dance content in the world.

Stinger bar. almost all the girls refused to go topless and not one went naked !!!!!!! You could buy a flower for the girl you liked for 50P and at the end the winner was the one with the most flowers. A girl told me that the winner only gets 1000P ( the daily wage for a dancer is anything between 150 - 200P plus comminsion from drinks ) They do get all the 50P from each flower though. just as well it was free.

Also went to the Doghouse International DC which was slightly more interesting. for 400P entry fee you get free grub and free drinks during the 2 hr contest. Again it was mildly intersting with only 1 girl letting a guy lick her pussy and about 15 seconds of a lesbian 69. Apart from that it was quite dull but at least most of the girls got naked - but not all.

ON thursday there is a Sons of Bachus DC which is supposedly more raunchy so will see what that is like.

Went up to some bars on Permiter road this afternoon to see what they were like and they were probably as busy as they normally are at 4pm in the afternoon ie 1 or 2 customers.

Went into one bar and got a little raunchy with a couple of girls who suddenly cooled as soon as I got them a drink each - whats the point of that ? Another bar - The Gentlemans Club has a long time BF of 1000P but a ST BF of 800P. Wrong way round surely? Also went into Wingwalkers gogo. It was sooo baad it was unreal. There was maybe 20 people in the bar with about 6 girl on stage. Unfortunately all the audience was wathcing the pool league competition that was going on and not the girls. Got to feel sorry for the girls when that happens. Now onder they were just standing on stage with arms crossed and not moving. Also one of other the girls was completely plastered and was sitting in a heap in a corner being force fed coffee and trying to fend of the 4 "nurses". All this at 7.30 in the eveining

Many of the bars sell viagra or the copies

Chinese 250P

Indian 400P

Liquid / Gel 400P

Viagra 500P

Cialis 700P

all for 100mg tablets

There are also guys who sell them outside the bars but the quality is wildy variable and they are not to be trusted. It seems that some of the bar prices are lower than the chemists as what happens is that the us expats here go to the hospital, get the pills for free then sell them to the bars !!!

Bumped into a ASFO guy outside Stingers - you will know him if you saw him, a guy with the black hat, beard and rimless glasses, always wears flowery shirts and usually is there with his wife / girlfriend in Gullivers on Fridays. He was there with Sarasin - who I didnt recognise.

From walking round this place during the day it seems like there is even less to do than Pattaya, I think it would drive me mad if I stayed here 2 weeks but I know some love it. What the hell do they do in the daytime??

Dont know where you went for cash machines I know there are a couple down the end of Fields near town. We never use those just too unreliable. We always go on to the base which is a 10-15 minute drive where there 4 or 5 cash machines that all take the Plus system. We have a regular taxi driver who always takes us if you want his number let me know and I will pm it to you.

What do I do in the day time....... yeah I think if I was an early riser it would drive me nuts, there really is nothing there. So I sleep and work.

The first couple of trips I did, I also felt the unease about the place but having done close to 10 trips there now I feel pretty secure and comfortable there now.

Enjoy the rest of your trip

Huh? How would you expect to recognize me if you never met me before? Or did someone already tell you I look like Brad Pitt? :)

The other guy who always looks like (a) he is trying to find an early Halloween Party or (B) a migrant worker goes by the handle of Garuda, both on ASFO and this list. He inexplicably brought his Thai 'girlfriend' with him to AC. Talk about bringing 'sand to the beach' we are still giving him a very big ration of shit over that.

This is my 6th visit in 4 years to AC. I always come to avoid the Songkran bullshit which has just outgrown its welcome with me. However, I like it so much I am making two trips a year and may up that to three.

No doubt about it, AC is an acquired taste and you are not on the right track if you try to compare it with Bangkok, Pattaya or anywhere else. Same with trying to compare Filopina bargirls with Thai bargirls. Apples and oranges.

I think you really have to come here with an open mind and forget about trying to make comparisons. Both places have advantages and disadvantages and it serves no purpose to argue which is better.

I have a good time when I am in Thailand and I have a good time when I am in AC. But, hey, that is me and I had a good three months in New Jersey for chrissakes.

You mentioned nothing to do in the daytime in AC so I will briefly comment on that. I have been here for 8 days and will be here for 6 more. I have never been bored. Sometimes I hold on to the lady from the previous day for fun.

Other days I head out to the afternoon bars you mentioned. This is not much of an option in Thailand (I know there are a few places, but not many gogo bars). It is often nice to go out, have a few drinks and be back with your lady before dinner time. Have a shot before dinner, after dinner, and again before breakfast if you like.

One other thing. I am staying in the Central Park Hotel which is the best. I used to stay at the Orchid which is good but $20 a day more. The Central Park has a broadband internet connection I can only dream of having back in Thailand. It is 24 hours and free with the room. So, I am having lots of fun just on the net without dealing with slow connect dialup speeds I normally have.

I have been hitting the bars 3 days and taking a day off. Works for me.

Anyway, ultra, nice to briefly meet you and it would have been nice to spend more time, but we had a drunk guy on our hands we were trying to get home.

I have not been active on nanaplaza.com much because I allot time for only one board/forum as I know these things can burn up too much of your time and I have plenty else to do. I have been reading and posting on asfo now.

But, I wanted to thank you for your very insightful and interesting reports on a newbie's perspective on AC. Good writing. Again, for me, anyway, AC has grown on me to the point that I like the sanuk scene here as much as the one in Thailand. However, considering the whole package, I would prefer to live in Thailand and likely could not live here. My work is in Thailand anyway.

Thanks again for the mention in your report.

"What the hell do they do in the day time?"

If you are in AC and have any love of the out doors, I highly recommend a guided trip up mount Pinatubo. I took a girlie from one of the bars with me and had a nice swim with her in the crater lake, it was magic. If there's not too many people there you can swim around the corner from your guide to a muddy little beach for some privacy - nudge nudge wink wink. The only mistake I made was trying to do the trip in one day. When I asked at the travel agent how long the trek took I was told 4.5 hours which I took to mean the round trip. Wrong, it's 4.5 hours up and about 4 hours back down. I think a better option would be to take a girlie with you on one of the overnight trips where you camp on the edge of the crater. More relaxed walking and a night under the stars with your Filipino lovely would make a change from the hotel room.

I was in AC in 1999 and haven't had any desire to return. I had an interesting time there but like you did not feel entirely at ease ( even compared to Cambodia ) and the whole scene somehow just didn't seems as "sanuk" as other parts of Asia. Angeles City also has the infamous honour of being the only place in 20 years of traveling Asia and the Pacific, in which I have been scammed. Possibly due to having just finished a contract in the Pacific dealing with some great Filipino people, I may have been off my guard. But analyzing it later it they had been very good at diverting my questions and pushing the right buttons. The upshot is, more than any other part of Asia, beware any stranger on the street who shows familiarity with you, claims to work at your hotel, claims to have a daughter studying in your country or any other reason to suddenly being your friend.

Anyway, hope you have a great time there for the rest of your stay. I really like your brutally honest and highly amusing posts, kee'em coming.

Cheers,

DWS :)

That's one of the most absurd and ridiculous things i've ever read on this board....To say that comparisons should not be made between AC and other "sex destinations", or between two ethnicities of bargirs, is like saying comparisons between all things are worthless.

What a pleasant distinction to earn...

June, if you ever added anything positive to a thread on this board there would be crosscountry skiing and dancing snowmen on Sukhumvit. :)

Instead of name-calling as is your custom (no one likes to be called absurd or ridiculous...do YOU?), why don't you try adding to the thread from your great wealth of knowledge on Asia?

For example, I would be sitting on the edge of my seat reading your treatise on comparing similar ethnicities of bargirls.

Or maybe not.

Perhaps I had other reasons for going to the Philippines and meeting bargirls besides analyzing them and making comparisons with bargirls from other lands. Next time I will take a notebook with me to make notes and keep swell members like you from having to read my absurd and ridiculous posts here. ::

Actually, I slightly misquoted you, because what you actually said is that those things CANNOT be compared (rather than "should not"), and you said they're APPLES AND ORANGES". So saying they cannot be compared is an absurd and ridiculous statement. They are EMINENTLY comparable, as much as any two (or more) things are in the world. And thats too obvious to even discuss. What you really meant to say is that YOU DON'T LIME COMPARISONS, which is quite different, but you apparently mis-typed your post....So this is all just a trivial point right now and not worth discussing.

June 11,

I think what Sarisin means by "comparing apples and oranges", is that they are two completly different worlds. Does not mean you can't compare them, but they are so different in their nature, that it's not fair to apply the same rules to both.

I must say too, I noted an undue amount of hostility in your post. If you don't agree, then fine. No need to attack the poster. Simply state your counter-view, and all will be well in nanaplaza-land. :)
