Mai Thai is good, I used to have a thing for Bo (if you know who I mean).

I dont know any of the staff by name, nice food though. I refuse to go to Sawasdee in Ponsonby now.Food is ok, but I heard the staff talking badly about us kiwi's one night. My thai is pretty fluent and I heard exactly what the little buggers were saying !! Thai friends in Parnell is nice.So is Nickies Thai in Newmarket. And I saw in the paper a while ago that Joy Bong on K Rd (advertised as Issan cuisine), is also good.

Most of the socialising with Thais I get to do involves 3 or 4 Puying showing up with crabs and motar and pestles

...ahh so thats where all the west coast shellfish are going :)

But as you know Auckland on a good night is like the Pattaya bus station after all the buses have gone

Too true.

I havent been to NZ in over 10 years, but Auckland seemed like a bustling metropolis compared to many of the other NZ towns. Christchurch had the most character, and definitely wasnt the coldest place we visited. That honour must go to Waiouru (sp ?), at the foot of a huge snow-covered mountain volcano (!) with a crater lake at the top. I've never felt cold like that, even in the Aussie snow country - incredible.

Enjoy the ski season - thats one thing you cant find in Thailand ::

A little sniffing around and I found this flyer, it's in thai and I don't have time to translate it right now.Maybe a thai firend or partner can do so for you.

The guy I got the flyer off suggested that more people are there after 10pm.Presumably all the thais knocking off work etc..... apparently you can eat dinner there aswell.

I'd pop along but I'm out of AKL from Thursday.Maybe next time. Have fun mate !!!

Well I remember a few years ago before i made my first trip to LOS, I befriended a thai hooker from Fort Street and she invited me to a thai restaurant cum bar by the Akl library. Think it was called Green Mango or Green Giraffe or something similar.

It was about 2am or so and it was full of Thai working girls. That was my introduction basically to the life of TG's.

I week today to wheels up
