zzzz
I've eaten durian once in my life. I became violently ill w/ stomach cramps & diarrhea afterward and was bedridden for a week. I have stayed away from it ever since. The thing was probably rotten and I didn't know it. It smells so rotten to begin with, how can you tell if it's rotten? By the texture, maybe. jasmine
[color:"red"] I love eating Durian with beer (they go together so well ) but so many Thais used to warn me against it ("You'll die. From a hot stomach, etc") that I used to ask Thai doctors about it whenever I saw one. To a man, they just laughed it off as a myth. Not a myth, the fruit is documented as having some chemical with tendency to heat up the bodies. Most Thais know not to eat substantial amount of durian alone, eat a few mangosteens with the durian and all is balanced. Really bibblies you must have a steel body to eat and drink beer at the same time!! :: Jasmine
Guest
That's just the old hot versus cold food myth of the Chinese.

May be a myth to many Westerners, but I who have been in the West more than the East, believe it. Jasmine
