Lengthy witness list for double murder case

More than 170 witnesses have been listed in the case of two Darwin teenagers charged with murder.

Eighteen-year-old Darwin teenagers Ben William McLean and Phu Ngoc Trinh are charged with the murder of two women at the Adelaide River, south-east of Darwin in March.

It is alleged the 27 and 58-year-old women were thrown off the Adelaide River bridge alive.

Their bodies were found floating in the river.

In court today, the prosecutor said 172 witnesses had been listed but not all of them would be called to give evidence to make the case as efficient as possible.

The court also heard forensic reports are expected to be finalised this week.

The case has been adjourned until July and the teenagers will not be required to attend.

A committal hearing has been set down for nine days in August.
