You are allowed to buy some ( Small ) Plot land to build a house. I think the ammount was about 2 mill & the interest Rate was quite low, But then so is it every where else at the moment, maybe this is worth looking at again....... any one know the in's & out's of this ??" You are probably thinking about the perm residency program. The Immigration Department had a program where if you invested 10 million baht in bonds, a fixed deposit account or bought a condo from a developer, and maintained such investment for three years, you could obtain perm residency. That program ended. The BOI has a similiar program, but the amount is 8 million baht, and the term of investment is five years. Perm residency does not, however, entitle you to own land.
