11th visit - maybe for good

Hi all,

I have decided to take the plunge and enrol on the TEFL course with a view to staying long term in Thailand.

Have put my apartment on the market and it should sell fairly easily even though there are a number of spunk stains on the wall.

Slightly dissapointed that I could not find a course in teaching Scottish as a foreign language but English will have to do.

Plan to have a couple of weeks before hand before I commence the course to release some fluids and get to know the boyfriend better as the next three months will be very lonely over here owing to the fact I have dumped the butcher.

On reflection if she would have given me the odd pork chop or two , I might have kept it going for a while but could`nt even get a chipolta out of her despite giving her my very best sausage.

As I am a tight bastard I probably would have shagged her again as long as it did`nt cost me too much money.

Have another two or three months of complete boredom to put up with in the meantime but hopefully it will soon pass.

The reports that itsmedave is posting have persuaded me thats its time to make a change and you have only one life so try something different if you are unfulfilled.

Some years ago there was an advert on TV over here with some guy pushing a famous English poet - Sir John Betjamin ,near a cliff and asking him the question " Sir John, do you have any regrets in life " which 80 year old Sir John replied " yes - I wish I had had more sex ".

Well , in forty years time ( if I make it that far), I don`t want to be in the same boat.

Anybody else out there that is toying with the idea I say go for it.

Regards

Kevan

Good on ya Kev! Welcome to the happy band who made the leap. I was in pretty much the same situation (certainly same frame of mind) when I left Albions beer stained shores 5 years ago. Have'nt regretted a moment of my time here since. Methinks you have the attitude and the sense of humour to have a great time as a long term expat here.

Good luck to ya - look me up when you get here.

Dear Sir,

I wish you good luck...you are doing what I hope to be doing soon.

We are roughly the same age (40?)...and are thinking the same....TEFL schooling....change in lifestyle...etc.

Much like dave, we hope you write your thoughts out when you arrive in LOS and start your coursework...it is invaluable to us who live vicariously through your words.

(Curious about the Sir John advert...what was it for?)

Sammy,

Not sure what the advertisement was for but if I was Sir John I would have asked the guy to push me off the fucking cliff , mind you, viagra was just about coming out then so perhaps I would`nt have.

Regards

Kevan

Kurtz,

I had to laugh....I live in a dinky town in the US....and always thought living in London would be a gas....lots to do...etc.

I guess it's perspective...but if LOS is even better than London (I have yet to travel to Thailand)...than I'm sold.
