soongmak
Hey Peter, Is it possible that you could make an mp3 cd with various examples of the styles you do know, featuring top artists and songs? I would be buying! I believe it could be a hit among the members here who are interested in thaii music but don't have a clue where to start, and what to look for. Cheers! khunsanuk
Hi, Peter actually emailed me a while back with the idea of adding some songs to this site which could be played directly from this site. We have recently hired a guy here at the office who I think could write such a (Flash-based) program. So, if there is any interest in this, please let me know and I'll see what we can do. (One concern I do have though is about the legality of this, i.e. playing songs I do not own nor am paying royalties of) Sanuk!
Nervous_Dog
Could be legally dicey but sounds like a good addition if you could How do thai sites get away with iit? Maybe you could then offer to SELL the songs from the site? DOG
thai3
Have a look on www.laohub.com they list singers and you can play all of their albums with a nifty player. I expect the idea is it will encourage people to by the CD's-peter
thai3
That's a great idea but might take a while to get round to doing due to confusing opinions as to what is what. For now the only good source are the sites named already such as http://www.savannanet.com/laomusic/laomusic.htm-peter

As long as they are set so they can't be downloaded, it should be OK, shouldn't it? Otherwise you could do 30 second snippets a la Amazon.
thai3
I never heard of any thai label taking legal action against interent usage of their tracks. Even when pointed out to them they don't seem to care. That's not to say they never would though, maybe they even appreciate the exposure?-peter
khunsanuk
Hi, "As long as they are set so they can't be downloaded, it should be OK, shouldn't it?" Yeah, I guess. Anyway, I'll talk to our Flash guy, but seeing that we are pretty much swamped until end of March I doubt it will be done before that. Sanuk! Nervous_Dog
Hi Thai3, actually there has been a lot of litigation over copyright here recently, the big players are very good at enforcing THAI copyright, not so good at any other DOG
