Stickman
I notice the baht is slipping at the moment against most currencies. Not a huge amount, but it just seems to get a bit weaker every day. Such movements really don't affect me directly but it is interesting nonetheless to see where it will go.... Stick
OCgringo
at least against the US$ its because the US$ has come off the lows of a few months ago against the Euro/ UKpound/Yen the US$ is still lower against the baht than a year ago http://finance.yahoo.com/currency/convert?amt=1&from=USD&to=THB&submit=Convert
Flashermac
There is speculation that the baht is being deliberately undervalued to help foreign sales and investment.
Rex7777
I wonder what'll happen if China finally allows its currency to float? I'm getting ready to move to Asia in about a year, and I'd like to think the US dollar won't drop too much against the baht. Rex
Flashermac
With my luck, I am always on the WRONG end in currency transactions. When I exchanged a few thousand dollars, the baht was down -- then promptly went up. Last time I bought some dollars, the baht had gone up again. krml
Well reading recent financial news about LOS. They have been recording a trade deficit in the billions of dollars for four straight months. Makes me feel better considering when I was there in February the U.S. dollar was getting roughly 38.60 baht to the dollar. I see it is above 40 again. Gotta love that!!! khunsanuk
Hi, Was seriously fucked when I exchanged my money in Holland. Redbaron
Thought you would have checked all that out before you left... usually the rate is better at the destination... I've always found so anyway.
Nervous_Dog
KS - as a very frequent flyer, Thailand is always a better place to buy money, they seem to make less on the exchange. Otherwise I find ATM's rip me of the least. NEVER take baht with you overseas. DOG
