JannikOJ
Hi, I need some recomendations of some good thai music. Who do you enjoy to listen to and why? The genre dont matter as long as its quality. It would also be great to hear who the nations darlings are when it comes to music. In fact, any stories of thai music would also be of great interest to me. Thanks a big bunch!

samak
...and i do not like all those lukkrueng singers with the lousy voices that try to sing thai pop.... or the farangs with the lousy voices, who try to sing morlam (jonas, christy) who only have an audience, because they are farang.... Long Gun
The mighty Futon!! If you can find the epic 'Gay Boy' on a karaoke machine you will impress all your Thai friends and family by singing along, especially if you can learn the hand gestures for the hookline 'Sucking on a filmstar' Seriously good band though, saw them again with Frogpatrol and Goatscrote in RCA on Friday. New CD in the shops now, worth B250 for the sleeve though it doesn't feature their extremely cute new bass player! Some sound samples and pics at Futon

Guest
Hey what's the dance track playing everywhere these days? Mixes in with the old track 'going to San Francisco' then gets all funky and dance. I really like it but when I asked for it in MBK all the sales assistants hadn't got a clue what I was on about, I might as well been asking for a pint of Abbot Ale........ Guest
Did somebody mention thai music? If you join [loads of crap removed; peter why don't you just stay away? - KS] the pay site there is a very, well alright, very average section on thai music what I wrote myself. Luktung big 7: Pumpuang Dungchan Sunaree Rachesima (too glorious for words) Mike Piromporn Got Jakrapan (samak he's half thai, bloody ugly I think) Siriporn Ampaipong Fon Thanasunthorn Tai Orathai (fairly new) morlam Jintara Poonlap (shes making a film TB) Job and Joy Banyen Raggen Aae Porchana Pimjai Dogfa Petchupan Honey Sri Issan who the girls like depends if they like string (boo) or luktung/morlam. If they don't like luktung I don't even bother talking to them, got to have something in common after all. Songs for life don't know, only that carabao bloke, needs a spell in the army that one, knock some sense inti 'im. Better get out of here or they'll have the dog on me-peter
Guest
Ekachi I never thought much of till I saw him, fantastic entertainer who can sing in just about every style. He was on stage for about 2 hours due to greedy guts Yui Yatt Yerr pulling out at the last minute when they would not give her the requested hike in fees. Bloody roling in it I understand he is, should see the sports car.Very nice bloke I thought after a chat, his brother did the translating. Prefer the girls though of course -peter
samak
Ekachai has IMHO one of the best voices among the luk thung singers. and yes he is a great entertainer and sings a huge range of songs in different styles while others sound always the same. he is gay like many others of the singers. songs for life (phuea chivit): Carabao with lead singer Ad Carabao might be the most well known and most present on TV due to their spots for Beer Chang and Carabao Daeng, but there are many others who mix elements of pop, luk thung and morlam into their songs
