kamui Posted July 5, 2005 Report Share Posted July 5, 2005 It's not a grunt but in Japanese martial arts you are taught the "Kiai", a very strong sound used to concentrate the whole energy in a split second into the hit. A "Kiai" has a psychological quality as well since it is an expression of energy and concentration and could discourage other fighters. But a "Kiai" sounds different to the tennis players "grunt", it sounds much more powerful since it requires a special technique. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
