Is Darwin named after Charles (survival of the fittest) Darwin? Never mind, I googled "Darwin" and found out that the Port was named after Darwin but 20 years before he published his famous book. The town that grew up around the port was named Palmerston. The name of the town was changed to Darwin from Palmerston in 1911 (don't know why) and it sustained damage during WWII (I didn't know that any part of Australia was attacked during WWII) and from Cyclones. It has a population of 87,000 (which seems small for an international airport). As a major port, I can see many jobs supported by the maritime industry but what kind of other industry would it have and what kind of nightlife would a town of 87,000 have, as well as other entertainment?

Submarines torpedoed Sydney Harbour, my father was AWOL from the army sanooking with my mum in a park beside the harbour when it happened, shit hit the fan big time silly bugger!

They used mini subs, plus one of the biggest subs ever built, which carried a PLANE!
