Thailand newbie needs help

FYI = If you engage in unprotected sexual encounters with Thai prostitutes you have a 50% chance of contracting the HIV. Question? Are you willing to risk your life with a condom that may be defective?

As for hotels,, you can take your pick,, they all treat you as a paying guest, and who "follows you home" is not a concern.

Do's & Don'ts = Do be polite and respect the laws, customs and traditions of the land.

Don't ask or trust taxi drivers,, especially Tuk-Tuk taxies to take you "where the action is". They get commissions from unscruplous bars, gems shops and businesses to bring the suckers to them. If you need help to find a good place to have some fun,, hire a licensed tour guide,, you'll be $$ ahead, and you won't have to worry so much about getting cheated.

I must be immune too weird one, I'm sick of this crap, that you can become HIV pos holding hands on the Sky Train. It's just scare mongering. All reputable sexual health workers will tell you the same thing"

1) don't have same sex intercourse

2) don't have anal sex

3) don't use intravenous drugs.

Stick to this and you still come up positive and they'll write you up in the medical books.

No respecting "sexual heath worker" would say any of that. He/she would tell you not to engage in risky practices. Which include *unprotected* sex (irrespective of sex), exchanging bodily fluids (irrespective of sex) and not to *share* needles.

'No respecting "sexual heath worker" would say any of that'

seems like you have never visited the special clinic at my Hospital....they like to put the fear of god into People.

heard similar words only last Night..........

when i first began to see my GF it co-incided with a blood disorder which involved many tests for just about every disease known.

i was negative on all counts but was referred to a specialist sex health worker and.........

told not to have sex with the GF as she could infect me.

told not to have anal (no plans) as i could infect her

told not to share needles with her as we could both get infected..........idiots.

all 'advice' given to me without any personal questions being asked of me.

all the advice was given to me without me being asked if .....

i intended to have sex with her.

i intended to have anal.

i intended to take drugs with her.

scare tactics i thought and i told them that they should go on some sort of course which teaches them to talk to People.

What we have broached here is a subject that is probably one of the most controversial on a world wide basis, AIDS. Aspersions have been cast on the professionalism of the sexual health workers I quoted in an earlier post; I can only say that I have been tread for STDs in two countries by fully qualified medical staff. One course of treatment in a Western country included filling out a questionnaire. Let?s get one thing out of the way now; I get the pox because when I?m drunk I?m a dick head.

People posting here are saying that AIDS is easy to catch, I?ve been told by people that work with it every day that it is not. The difference between these people and the ones that write about it and talk about it is they are not do-gooders. They are there to do a job and advise people how to prevent it.

So let?s run a little survey, the majority of guys who post here are probably more promiscuously sexually active that any similar group of heterosexual males anywhere else in the world. We get as much pussy as rock stars; we?re all captains of the football team here. The fact that most of us would be older on the average than any other control group would probably make us more liable to contract infections. Almost without exception the majority of us came here for one reason and one reason only, the ready availability of young woman eager to sleep with us. Let?s leave money out of it; I?m only discussing the physical act here. Sure we look at a temple occasionally and we all like the bit of string the girls tie around our wrist but Thai culture freaks most of us are not.

So how rife is it in our group. In five years I have never met a single sufferer, either here, in Lao, or the Philippines where I have lived during this period. I am not talking about locals, homosexuals, bisexuals or drug users. I?m talking about guys like us who came here for the pussy and either stayed or came back on a regular basis.

So let?s hear from people who personally know guys who are HIV positive that fall into this group. I don?t want to hear about your brother in laws cousins? best mate, personal knowledge only.

I am fully prepared to admit that AIDS has devastated local communities; there are probably a dozen sufferers in my village alone. They catch it off other Thais, Thai men are commonly bisexual and a lot of the young people use drugs. They regularly have sex with underage girls whose bodies aren?t mature enough for sexual intercourse. Blood is involved in the transfer of the disease in every case. Rape is endemic, particularly between different ethnic groups.

Finally I am not promoting unprotected sex so don?t snip little bits out of my post to prove that I am. I am saying that we are not a high risk group regardless of what people who resent our lifestyle tell us.

You should not have. "Responsible" counciling should not include "life style" judgements. What it should do is inform you of the risks of different practices and ways to minimize (or eliminate) those risks. For example, telling gays not be be gay is both socially unacceptable as well as impractical. Responsible counciling for example would *not* say "don't do anal intercourse", but would say "if you do, use an appropriate condom" (i.e. thicker and stronger and designed for that practice).
