Old Hippie Posted June 13, 2006 Report Share Posted June 13, 2006 I just refuse to accept that Isreal is 100% innocent/victum here, or that the arabs are 100% wrong... tough call, as there is really a lot of old hate at the root of the conflict...often times, the real root cause has been forgotton...look at the former Yugoslavia...those guys all hate eachother, and I doubt anyone can really tell you why... The problem is that the guys supporting the arab side think that the arabs are 100 % innocent. I'm willing to say both sides are both good and bad. Actually there's just one reason for the US to support Israel - NY is the biggest jewish town in the world and no president candidate wants to lose in NY. Same in many other conflicts - Saddam was a very bad guy, responsible for torture and murders but he could balance the ethnic and religious groups without the violence we see in Iraq today. Probably less people had been killed in Iraq the last years if he had still been in power. So he was not a 100 % a bad president for his people or at least the big majority had it better than today. But Palestine is the only place where being a refugee has achieved hereditarystatus, now going into the third generation for some. The Kurds and many other people might not agree with you. And if Arabs didn't want to live in the state of Israel, all they had to do was cross the Jordan River. If Swedes don't want to live in Sweden they only have to cross the border to Norway (many do ) where they can understand the language and probably get along fine. The problem is that quite a few people really don't wan't to leave their bith place because some religeous nutter tells them that som fictional god has given the place to them and those who live there have the choice between being killed or leaving. The remainder was divided into two zones, one for Jews, one for Arabs. It was the Arab League, not the Arabs living in those two zones, who rejectedthat arrangements. And according to you this justifies that they should leave their homes to make place for European and American Jews. If they killed Israeli soldiers in stead of sending suicide bombers to kill civilians they would have gained respect from European countries just as the resistance in occupied Europe did 60+ years ago. NY is the biggest jewish town in the world and no president candidate wants to lose in NY. That's mostly bullshit. The main supporter of Israel in the US is the uneducated christian extreme right.
