I feel like a lightweight now. Biggest bar tab here was at Avalon on Vine street. A little over 1k, I was treating a couple people and myself.

Worst in LOS was 5k bht. What's interesting was that it was at 'Big Dogs.' How the hell do you rack up 5k at Big Dogs?

What's worse is that I let a girl talk me into barfining her and two of her friends. Back at the room one went to take a shower, next thing I know an insulted BG is poking me and lightly slapping me in the face. I had passed out on her, the two friends were giggling. I just rolled over and went back to sleep.

Next morning my head felt like it was in a vice grip. I gave them each 2k and rushed them out, and they were irritated again that I wasn't interested.

Big Dogs. wtf. *sigh*

I won't say the number. People on this board would have coronaries. I don't want to be responsible for that. It was at the New York Grille in the Park Hyatt in Shinjuku (including dinner for three). And yes, worth every yen (especially because it was expensable LOL!).

In LoS, B15k on a regular basis is not unheard of...especially when that bastard TheCorinthian is in town LOL!

I'll quote a movie line for y'all: "He exists in a world beyond your world. What we only fantasize, he does. He lives a life where nothing is beyond him. But you know what? It's all a facade. For all his charm and charisma, his wealth, his expensive toys... he's a driven, unflinching, calculating machine. He takes what he wants, when he wants... and disappears."

Had evenings where alcohol expenditures approached 10k for the sum total of the day (in LOS), but never as a tab from one place (impossible for me to stay in same place more than a couple hours, get antsy). But even those occasions happened once or twice over a trip, frugal most of the time. Until I'm not. But never 15k on alcohol for the night in LOS.

THAT, is dedication.

I've never had an expense account, so going out and drinking on a Friday or some night with business associates didn't happen. I suppose that the most that I've drank is either 19 vodka tonics in an hour (it was a bet at school and it happened in the bar in my dormatory) or 28 pabst blue ribbons in an evening (also at school in 1972 at the Pabst plant in Omaha;fortunately, I was too drunk to drive but couldn't remember where the car was the next morning, so I reported it as missing to the police). More recently, I spent 3 months in Edinburgh in the winter of 2001 and mainly hit pubs. For one England-Scotland rugby match, I started drinking Guiness at 10 AM and finished about 3 AM, after 16 of them. I repeated this test of endurance on St. Pat's Day in Dublin. Although not technically spent on liquor, I lost $3,500 at the Casino Royal in St. Maarten durning a long night of blackjack and drinking. Three weeks earlier, I had won $4,500 after an equally long (14 hours)session of playing blackjack/drinking. I'm very proud of myself not hitting the casinos in Kansas City in the 2 years that I have lived here since moving back. There was a point, when they first opened up in the late 1990's, that I would be there at least one night a week.

You're a man after my heart, Dean. Had a few similar experiences.

Business expenses should be a separate pissing contest. Most of us here have partaken of them, whether we were the one slapping down the card(s) or not.

Most ridiculous expense report, along with justification, would make a great thread, though. Probably already been done. :doah:

Now, getting back to personal expenditures in bars...

If checkbins vis-a-vis personal wealth is a yardstick, I'm pretty damn competitive! :dunce:

Had a similar tab in Buenos Aires without getting laid. Unbeknownst to me, I was buying $100 bottles of cheap champaign for everyone in the bar. Signed the cc receipts with a gun to my head. But since Amex and Visa later sided with me and I didn't have to pay, I don't think this type of story qualifies.
