Suvarnabhumi Premiere Flights Imminent

For the first time in Thailandâ??s history, the newest, biggest airport of Thailand would be up and running.

The Chief Executive of the new airport Mr Pongsak Raktapongpaisarn, Thailand Transport Minister, was confident that Suvarnbhumi (new Bangkok airport) would be ready to open its gates for commercial flights on 29th July 2006, with a total scheduled flights of 22 on the opening day. He urged would be passengers to come and experience the opening of new airport themselves.

 

Deputy Chief Mr Chaisak Angsuwan, Minister for the Thailand Airport Association, stated that in the past Thailandâ??s Donmuang Airport had handled up to

Just what is that supposed to mean? The first time it is open obviously means that it is the first time it's open. (I take it for granted that it wasn't open during the Ayutthaya Period of Thai history.)

Are they flying empty planes to/from the airport or are their passengers booked on these flights?

Nevermind. I just read Kamui's post that shows these are indeed test flights.
