Warning! Click2Net: Prepaid Internet Package (KSC)

One of the cheapest packages currently available (230 Baht at Panthip for 50+10 hours). But obviously not meant to be bought by someone who doesn't read Thai. In the package is a Username and Password, and if you're lucky, you'll find the dial-up number in the included manual (all in Thai). So far, so good. You connect, but ... surprise, surprise! Nothing works, no access to anything! Hmm, after examining the manual again you might notice a URL pointing to click2net.th.com. Why not, lets' try that address in the browser then! Aha, it works! But wait a sec ... no information in English! In desperation you try every link from the homepage, and eventually you'll reach a page with information in ... English! An Online Registration Page! From there on, it's a breeze to finish the registration. You choose a new (permanent) username and password, disconnect from the temporary account you have been using, and re-connect with your new account. All setup and working fine. And you also get a new email address ... username@ksc.th.com

Eventually you'll spend those 60 hours and decide to buy a new package. By now, you probably understand that you can refill the old account, so you point your browser once again to 'click2net.th.com', and this time you go looking for a 're-fill page'. Easy enough, you find it quickly enough. All the information is of course in Thai, but the form fields are in English:

Login Name:

Password:

Serial Number:

Access Code:

Happily you enter the requested information consulting your new package - and using your old (permanent) login name and password. But wait a sec, you notice that you have actually two different serial numbers, one printed on the package itself, and another number given inside the package! Maybe you start with the one mentioned on the package only to discover that the form field is too short; you can't enter all the digits!!! Hmm, what about the number inside the package ... it's longer!!! What now?? There's som hyphens in the serial number, maybe if I omit those hyphens. Ok, let's try ... and after clicking the Submit button you're presented with an Error Page: "Serial Number Invalid" Arggh! But you also notice that on the error page they refer to the serial number you entered - with the hyphens all re-inserted! And there's no difference, you obviously entered the correct number, but the script will nevertheless not accept it!!!

What now then??? You will probably do as I did, and go to the Registration Page and start all over again and choose a new username and password - and a new Email address. Sigh!

Of course, if you can read Thai, you would have seen that you need the *original* serial number from the first package to re-fill your account!!! Also, by re-filling, you'll get 50+15 hours instead of 60 hours!

Another amusing observation is that while completing the registration, you have to agree to the 'Terms and Conditions'; and this page is strangely enough all in English!!!

Happy surfing!

This is Thailand mate!... Why the hell they do have to translate something to English?... Remember that you're living in a foreign country... This country does have his own language and culture to be respected... and is not a must for them to translate everything to English.

BTW: You can always ask help to a Thai guy who does speak english and for sure he will help you... friendly people those Thais wink.gif" border="0

No need at all, as long as they are happy with their Thai customers. But it's the first prepaid Internet package here that's completely geared towards a Thai clientele. The message is: "This is cheap, too cheap for you wealthy farang, stay away, please!"

And I'm still waiting for that elusive unlimited access account ...
