Thai prepaid SIM international roaming options? AIS or DTAC?

First off I own a Happy SIM so know more about it than AISâ??s One2Call and I know international roaming costs a fortune.

From my understanding both Happy DTAC and AIS One2Call offer international roaming.

To use DTACâ??s Happy prepaid international roaming one needs to enroll at a cost of 214B and show a passport, work permit, Thai credit card which must virtually rule out 99% of expat owners? Not only that the enrollment must occur every time one leaves Thailand.

To use One2Callâ??s prepaid international roaming (Freedom Planet) I understand one doesnâ??t need to do anything except read instructions on how to use the system which is already activated?

Am I missing something here?

12call roaming: u must activate it by calling their call center or dialling *125.

Happy D-prompt roaming is more complicated.

12call roaming: not in every country can u make outgoing calls, in Laos and other neighboring countries u can only receive calls.

They told me i can only top up 12call with maximum 5000 Baht, serious roaming will cost u a bit more than that (my phone bill for the last 2 days was 5000 B, at a rate which is a fraction of 12call)

why dont u apply for DTAC postpaid?

if u use roaming a lot this is a lot more convenient

U dont need a Thai credit card. Some DTAC customer care centers (World Trade, Paragon) dont even require a work permit as long as u pay the bills by automatic debit, so all u need is passport and savings passbook.
