kwai_hai
March 3 is Makha Buch Day. No alcohol will be available. Bars are closed as I read. What about the Massage Parlours? Things seem to be a lot more flexible at the moment and it seems there is a chance that the bars, at least in some areas, will open. Cheers,
worldtraveller70
If they are closed, would they not be closed on March 05 (ie: in lieu)?
mikem55
I was just in Bangkok two weeks ago and was there during Visakha Bucha Day (May 31). Nana Plaza and all the Soi 4 bars were shuttered, but the Soi 7 Beergarden was open, serving alcohol and packed. There were even two cops out front smiling (probably just got through counting their tea money). Also, Gulliver's on Soi 5 was open, but had a sign on the door that said 'no alcohol today'. Inside, alcohol was flowing freely! (this is Thailand) So next holiday, head to Beergarden or Gulliver's!
The_Munchmaster
It was like that on the Queens Birthday last August. The Cowboy was closed but Soi 7 beergarden and the pool bar were open. Patpong was generally closed except for the Tavern and The Rose bar, where a holiday BJ was also available.
AhTeckLim
Queens Birthday 12th Aug this year is on a sunday. I assume most bars clsed then. But what about 13th Aug (*in lieu) Monday? It is a general holiday for most thais but how about the bars?

Neo
Good to have this thread..Sun & Mon dry is good to know. On dry days gogo bars don't serve alcohol or may even close, but in my experience restaurants do serve alcohol. Hence BG7 may actually be sort of legit. Don't know where the line is exactly as for instance Hard Rock won't serve. Maybe depends on how the establishment classifies itself on the books. samak
there are also many restaurants that do not serve any alcohol on those Buddhist holidays. and also many shops, shopping center etc. keep dry!
