kao_boy
Could someone please specify brand and model for a PC CD player that can play VCD movies on my PC monitor? Price range info will be appreciated!!! I plan to make a purchase next time I drive to Bkk (Sep 24), at Panthip Plaza. I have a Diamond Viper 550 Graphics card, is it suitable for VCD movies, or do I need to upgrade? Cob Jai Maak
Straycat
It's not dependant on the CD player. All CD players for a PC can be used, but you need a mpeg decoder. Decoder can either be software or hardware. You can read up more on this here: Archival Movie VCD Helper
Guest
Any brand CD player is fine. I have the Diamond V770 Video card and it works fine. VCDs are treated just like regular data files. I recommend Lalim VCD Player sofeware to play back VCDs. It's free, fast and has good picture quality. Guest
My two penneth True any CDrom player will play vcd and the video card will only determine the quality of the picture. Would suggest that u buy the fastest 50X or better and your computer has at least 64M memory but 128 is better. you may want to get a video card with 4 or 8 Meg memory this will get your films running properly. much less than the minimum will cause your films to appear jerky. hope this helps
