buddha
I was insulted by one of my regulars the other night. I was refered to as: Falang Chan cho I popped into a bar and she started pressuring me to pay bar and take her home. Increasingly I have had my eye on another girl dancing at the bar. I suggested that I barfine her and her friend and all three of us have a go. I was referred to as mai dee, Jai Dam, and falang Chan cho. I know what mai dee and jai dam is....but the other...falang Chan cho...can someone help me?
elef
I asked TGF and she said not learn that expression, worst possible language not used by any normal thais not even BGs, meaning something like that you and all your family are very bad people. khunsanuk
Hi, 'Chan cho'? Could this have been 'jao chu', i.e. someone who fucks around, a butterfly? Sanuk!
Julian2
Most of the BGs I used to know used the term 'butterfly' even when talking to each other in Thai. It seemed to have entered their language.
Khun_Kong
I also hear the French "papillon" used by BGs.
preahko
Most of the BGs I used to know used the term 'butterfly' even when talking to each other in Thai. It seemed to have entered their language. they still use "jao chuu" a lot too, it certainly hasn't disappeared. preahko

Julian2
I found that very interesting KK, I wonder if it came from the French colonial influence on the families of the Lao/Isaan BGs?
samak
french colonial influence on the families of the Lao/Isaan BG's??? if you describe the influence of punters on BG's as colonial, may be! but Isaan was never a colony and only very few BG's are really from Laos and France withdraw from Laos many decades ago; not many old people left who use some french words.
