keyboard question

I just bought a new keyboard. It has these extra button : wake up, sleep, power. However when pressing them nothing happens. I have no 'manual'. Is there anything I can do to activate these buttons. It is not a big issue, but would be a pleasant feature if possible to activate.

most of the time keyboards like the one you describe either:

a - are proprietary, e.g. they will only work with the type of computer they were designed for (a compaq keyboard w/ a compaq pc.)

or

b - require software drivers to activate the special function keys. I'd check to see if the keyboard mfg has a website, and if there are any drivers available for it.

Just out of curiosity, who made the kb?

Thanks. Good advice. The company is called Siam United High-Tech. The keyboard bought of the rack at Data IT, Pantip Plaza. I found their website, quite good actually but nothing about drivers, so I sent an e-mail to the technical support man. Maybe I will get a reply. Those buttons are really not proprietary nor do you need special drivers per se.

Much of it is do to your motherboards BIOS and the instructions it gets from what you set in the Bios and power management instructions via bios and/or OS.
