fatbastard33
I have just changed my internal modem and now when I dial to get connected to my ISP it makes a bloody awful squeaking noise when it is dialling. On my old modem this was not a problem. Any offers on how I can get rid of the squeaking noise? Fatbastard33
Guest
My Computer - Dial-up Networking Right Click your connection you want to hush and select Properties. General Tab, Click the "Configure Button" Modem Porperties will open, select the Gerenal Tab, move the volume slider all the way to the left. OK. OK. Close the DUN folder. Done. fatbastard33
Hi bohicasia. Followed your instructions and it did the job. I had tried that before but only did it with one of the connections and it kept on squeaking. This time did it to all of the connections. Many thanks. Guest
My pleasure, but it shouldn't have done it to all of the connections at once... Maybe, this was the one connection where the volume was still non-zero? Really it should only do it to one connection at a time. If you want to do all the connections at once, I believe you do it by going directly to Modem through the Control Panels. General Tab, then the Properties button, General tab in the new window then the slider to "Off". Any DUN connection you define after making this change should inherit this global setting, but I think any pre-exisiting connections have to be modified individually like in my first post. Happy modulating and demodulating.
