Mekong
I admit to being a Luddite as far as flat screens are concerned. What are the residents experts opinions on My Choice I still have last years annual bonus burning a hole in my pocket and if I dont spend it soon the wife will be after more White Gold or Diamonds. ChristianTroy
I do have an HDDDVD player actually...a Pioneer DVR545HX...never used the HDD part yet.. Kojis, we can sort out the confusion very easy! HDD-DVD means Hard Disk Drive - DVD HD-DVD means High Definition DVD sounds similar but is entirely different! With the Hard Disk you record from TV or copy DVDs A High Definition DVD contains Movies in high resolution. Your current player can play and record pictures in 704 pixels Ã? 480 lines High Definition = 1920 pixels Ã? 1080 lines or 1920 pixels Ã? 1080/2 lines when interlaced. The most TVs that has been sold last year do only support the interlaced (1080i) format which is more than enough to be impressed the new models are Full HD without interlacing the lines. Glossar: Interlace is a technique of improving the picture quality of a video transmission without consuming any extra bandwidth sounds like it would be better but it isn't! Neo
$5163 USD You need one of DocThai's mules, LOL. 46" Bravia's run for around $2000 in the USA. That price is for new, factory sealed, full warranty. But care is needed to assure you select a unit that can do PAL and 220V. 100,000 baht sure seems a lot of money to toss away strictly for the convenience... soongmak
Kojis, Here's a list of DVD's available at Amazon in HD DVD format. Casino is one of them!
Khun_Kong
It means you can buy new DVD players such as Blueray or HDDVD. The quality is exactly the same but it isnt sure yet wich formatwill make the race. Best advice is to wait for multi format players, at least that is what I am going to do! The porn industry has adopted HD-DVD. That oughta settle which format will win. Same thing happened with VCDs. Beta lost, because Sony didn't want to be associated with porn. Blue-Ray is about to suffer the same fate, I believe.
ChristianTroy
Not so sure about it and as beeing a part of the porn industry for over 6 years I can tell you that there is no such thing as a Industry standard! Whoever will produce them their copies cheaper will make the race. I see that right now as a temporary success because the HD-DVD players will cost only 399 USD for the Xbox360. Once the PS3 will be on the market with an integrated Blue Ray Player the situation will change fast, because the Ps3 will sell better than the additional xbox players. After that the people will decide which format they like most. I am betting that multifomrat players will be the standard such as multiformat writers and the whole thing will turn out as a bargain. Two rivaling products which both can be played on your machine is a heavens gift for the customer. It might go this way and we get more special offers then aver just because of their rivality! kojis
'Here's a list of DVD's available at Amazon in HD DVD format. Casino is one of them! ' Thanks for the link Soongmak, could prolly order a few DVDs from the list, but what is the point to order a HD DVD if the DVD player is not performing enough to read them properly? Kojis, still in the dark...
ThaiHome
Bought a KLV-46S200A 46" last April, been very happy with it. Assume your model would be some upgrade. Can't remember what we paid, something like 100K, also came with a full home surround sound and DVD system. And they delivered and set it up. Kojis, still in the dark... Sorry Kojis, My misstake! I thought you had a High Definition DVD player, instead of a dvd player with a hard disk drive. You're better off NOT buying HD DVD's before you have a player that supports the format.
