Pom Michael
I signed up for the 2 mbps plan for 890 baht. Actually shows 2048/512 kbps. Suppose to upgrade in 2 days. So, guess will check the bandwidth meter tonight later to see if any difference. They actually came to my office and did all the paperwork for me. So, now I have True (land) Telephone, True IPTV, True Visions (old UBC) and True Super Hi-Speed Internet. Oh, also have the True Move postpaid account for the mobile phone. And I don't really even like True.
Pom Michael
Here are the results: Using this benchmark each time: http://speedtest.thaivisa.com/ Tuesday: 6 March 18:39- Download Speed: 472 kbps (59 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 403 kbps (50.4 KB/sec transfer rate) 19:15- Download Speed: 443 kbps (55.4 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 402 kbps (50.3 KB/sec transfer rate) 23:30- Download Speed: 431 kbps (53.9 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 410 kbps (51.3 KB/sec transfer rate) I received confirmation of my increase on Wednesday. Here are the results. I'm on the 1 mbyte plan for True Hispeed. Wednesday: 7 March 19:30- Download Speed: 658 kbps (82.3 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 408 kbps (51 KB/sec transfer rate) 19:54- Download Speed: 691 kbps (86.4 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 411 kbps (51.4 KB/sec transfer rate) 20:42 Download Speed: 803 kbps (100.4 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 406 kbps (50.8 KB/sec transfer rate) 23:27- Download Speed: 618 kbps (77.3 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 399 kbps (49.9 KB/sec transfer rate) Thursday: 8 March 00:19- Download Speed: 807 kbps (100.9 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 407 kbps (50.9 KB/sec transfer rate) 07:43- Download Speed: 687 kbps (85.9 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 376 kbps (47 KB/sec transfer rate) 22:35 Download Speed: 680 kbps (85 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 403 kbps (50.4 KB/sec transfer rate) Friday: 9 March 07:35- Download Speed: 673 kbps (84.1 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 396 kbps (49.5 KB/sec transfer rate) 19:30- Download Speed: 693 kbps (86.6 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 405 kbps (50.6 KB/sec transfer rate) 22:50= Download Speed: 715 kbps (89.4 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 378 kbps (47.3 KB/sec transfer rate) So, it does look like an increase in speed, but not even a doubling of the original downloads. But still better than the 1200 baud Haynes modem that was my first connection many years ago. I'm sure many here remember their first 300 baud modems! Cheers! elef
I upgraded from 2 MB to 8 MB and found out that the modem was a problem as the speed not increased that much. Tried to download an upgrade of the modem software but nothing happened, so bought a new modem and gave the old one to a family member. Now I've 7 MB down but this is Sweden of course. Palatkik
My 256k/128 line from CSLox (738B/month) gives: Download Speed: 416 kbps (52 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 194 kbps (24.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Hugh_Hoy
What an amazing business practice "we don't care what speed you get, we call it whatever we want to call it". Tell em that 100 baht note is really a 1000 baht note. You call it what you want to call it. (Are there civil/criminal penalties for fraud in the LOS?) Pom Michael
Ok, something happened today: 11 March (Sunday) at 23:45- Download Speed: 1965 kbps (245.6 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 382 kbps (47.8 KB/sec transfer rate) Now, let's see if this was a one time situation or was my connection really increased! Palatkik
For what it's worth the following site shows True to be the slowest of the ADSL providers?? http://www.speedtest.net/global.php?random=39615&continent=4&country=23®ion=204&city=424 Should I stick with my seemingly overpriced CSLox 256/128 account for time being I wonder? True are advertising 1mbps for around same price I think.
Nervous_Dog
i dont beleive the results, what is KASETS and where did true go for upload speeds?
Pom Michael
I'm very happy now with True Super HiSpeed. I did basically nothing and doubled my effective speed at least. I'm over 1900 kbps all the time now. A noticable improvement. As everyone mentions, it all depends on your location. Cheers!
khunsanuk
Hi, I think I can apply on the 14th (UBC user only) and will likely do so. Sanuk!
