Just another sad argument for gun control

..

Recommended Posts

What a tragedy.

What kind of country is the US, where a guy walks around unloading bullets into nearly 50 innocent people, killing 32?

Last year that nut job lined up those little Amish girls i the school and shot them in the head, execution style.

This is a uniquely American phenomenon.... all the more reason to do something to try to stem the flood of American culture around the world, as impossible as that might appear these days.

If there wasn't this terrible ill in American society, gun control wouldn't be an issue.

In one year, firearms killed no children in Japan, 19 in Great Britain, 57 in Germany, 109 in France, 153 in Canada, and 5,285 in the United States. http://www.bradycampaign.org/facts/issues/?page=kids

Simple no guns=5000+ American children potentially alive, and thats just in one year.

Im no genius but you would have to say guns cause trouble. No parent want's to bury thier child, in one year the parents of over 5000 children did.

It only took one nutcase to pull this shit here in OZ, Martyn Bryant and the government axed the lot. I feel Oz is a safe place to raise my daughter whereas guns are concerned, why can't the US wake up and work out that fear breeds fear. Only Armys and Cops need guns. If Bush can wage a war on terror then he can wage a war on guns. Prevent the manufacture of firearms with automatic or semi automatic capabilities.

The perp could NOT have purchased his weapons legally, since he was not a US citizen. I'm waiting to find out HOW he got hold of two 9 mm pistols. Probably the same way the gangs get theirs - from illegal underground dealers.

"Authorities were investigating whether the gunman who killed 32 people on the Virginia Tech campus in the deadliest shooting rampage in U.S. history was a Chinese man who arrived in the United States last year on a student visa.

"The 24-year-old man arrived in San Francisco on United Airlines on Aug. 7 on a visa issued in Shanghai, the source said. Investigators have not linked him to any terrorist groups, the source said.

"Police believe three bomb threats on the campus last week may have been attempts by the man to test the campusâ?? security response, the source said."

Maybe it's time to ban Chinese students???

p.s. Headline: "HE LINED STUDENTS AGAINST A WALL, THEN EXECUTIONS BEGAN."

Why the hell didn't they charge the SOB? If they had, he couldn't have shot more than a couple before they piled on him and beat the living sh*t out of him. Instead they stood there waiting to be killed. :(

[color:red]"They obviously thought that he wasn't going to shoot them, just trying to control them. The same could be said for the passengers on the hijacked planes on 9/11, I guess people always hope that things will work out in the end."

But it didn't. If one person had a gun, it could have made a difference. People should still have the right to defend themself if they so desire.

According to this website Link , Australia seems to be having more problems after they banned weapons. A quote from that site seems to indicate that [color:red]"Following the gun ban (in Australia), armed robberies went up 69%, assaults with guns went up 28%, gun murders went up 19% and home invasions went up 21%."

How in the hell can gun murders go up when guns are banned?

This is such an old debate. Reality is people kill people........not guns. US is a gun culture plain and simple.

I heard an Australian Profeessor interviewed here who has just been appointed to Virginia Tech to to head up the Vetinary Science Department. He has been teaching students in the US for years. What he said he could never understand was that he would spend all week teaching students how to save animals and then come the week-end, these same students would go out into the forests with high-powered rifles, and kill anything that moved.

Go figure. :shakehead:shakehead:shakehead

Actually, unless the law has changed in the last year or two, aliens can purchase/possess firearms. However, they must be in the U.S. legally and can't be on non-immigrant visas (such as work/student). Pretty much requires that they have permanent resident status. (Think of the non-citizens in the Armed Forces.)
