enigma
does it mean "insane, psycho, lunatic" crazy? or does it mean "goofy, wacky, silly" crazy? or can it mean either, depending on context?
chuckwoww
Crazy. But crazy can cover a range of things too.
Julian2
I get the impression there's various levels of "baa". To call someone "phee baa" (crazy ghost?) can be quite offensive here in the North.
khunsanuk
Hi, baa - crazy ba ba bo bo - very crazy (often said jokingly) ting tong - wacky pasaat - insane (not a polite thing to say) Sanuk!
whitelotuslane
I think it's best not to use swear words of any kind, also not jokingly, unless you are reasonably fluent and it really is a suitable place & time. In Thailand you can never bee too polite.
Julian2
This is definitely true when mixing with Thais who may not appreciate poorly worded Farang humour. Maybe not quite so much in your own family circle or while taking a drink with young ladies of a certain profession. (They'd laugh at anything as long as the drinks keep coming.) Pescator
I wouldn`t exactly call Baa a swear word YMMV, it`s very commonly used, of course not exactly among strangers. And I don`t really buy that "you can never be too polite" stuff. I adjust my vocabulary to what I hear spoken to me, and if the speakers don`t appreciate that `cause I am a foreigner, well, they know what they can do.... or I shall be happy to make a few constructive suggestions. hn
elef
I agree Baa is equal to stupid in english, baa baa very stupid so it depends more how you use and say it.
Crash999
I'm not certain, but I've been told... that 'baa'... is the noise a sheep makes.
elef
Have you ever met an intelligent sheep? So a sheep declares it's intelligence by saying baa all the time.....
