The_Munchmaster
No, definitely not (unless it was about 4am, by which time he might have been feeling a bit sleepy).
BkkShaggy
Maybe NEU-AY à ¹?à ¸?à ¸·à ¸Âà ¸¢ - (I'm) tired...? It's à ¹?à ¸«à ¸?à ¸·à ¹?à ¸Âà ¸¢. You were almost correct. To OP, I have no idea what the word is. First I thought it was "tired" like Boo did. But it seems it is not.
Boo Radley
The Thai dictionary I looked in had the entries (with 2 spellings for NEU-AY): à ¹?à ¸«à ¸?à ¸·à ¹?à ¸Âà ¸¢ - tired à ¹?à ¸?à ¸·à ¸Âà ¸¢ - tired, listless, apathetic, indifferent etc eg à ¹?à ¸?à ¸·à ¸Âà ¸¢à ¸¥à ¸? - to become tired, lose steam, lose one's pep So I guess it could be tired in the sense of fatigue (due to heat etc), rather than sleepy. But am not a native Thai speaker, so could well be wrong lol
Pom_Jao_Choo
I'm gonna throw a random thought out there. I have heard Thai's using "Oy" as an exclamitory. And there is the word "nii" like "Tii nii" (place, here). Any chance it's a localized exclamation "whats this?" ?

They would say "Wan nee tham mai doo nuey nuey long?" à ¸§à ¸±à ¸?à ¸?à ¸µà ¹?à ¸?à ¸³à ¹?à ¸¡à ¸?à ¸¹à ¹?à ¸?à ¸·à ¸Âà ¸¢à ¹?à ¸¥à ¸? Why do you look so tired (non- active) today? NO ONE says the word alone by itself. And this word is not used much in daly life anyway.
Boo Radley
...And this word is not used much in daly [sic] life anyway. Bkkshag/(goodthaigril?): Nearly right. Its 'daily' not daly. NO ONE ever spells it like daly!
Pescator
NO ONE says the word alone by itself. Well, I need look no further than my better half to hear it on a nearly daily basis. And this word is not used much in daly life anyway Hmm, that is quite contrary to my experience of course YMMV. cheers hn

But I believe small typing mistakes are allowed here ? Cheers !
BkkShaggy
Hua Nguu, Obviously my experiences are different from yours. I've never heard it expressed alone by itself, at least from my circle of friends and families. Cheers !
